What is an obstructed view cabin like on a cruise ship, good-bad-o.k?

It means you will have either some ship structure or equipment such as lifeboats/liferafts in your view. See the link below for an example

This I would regard as an extreme example view however.

I would suggest you get the ship's layout from the brochure, find out where the lifeboats are and try to determine if it is a problem for you. Some view may be obstructed by some very minor equipment which will not curtail the enjoyment of your room. Watch out for cabins which passers by are able to look into.
After all being said and done, go one deck up and you will have a public room/library/bar where you can sit quietly and watch the ocean go by. Don't worry about it. You will have plently of places to see the sea.

Obstructed view means that you have a porthole, but you can't see any sort of view out of it, but whatever it is that is "blocking" the view.

It's like getting stuck behind a support post at a baseball game.

Boring. Like sleeping in a closet.

A obstructed view is just that. You have a cabin with a window but the view to the ocean is limited by for example a stair or a lifeboat. One thing to remember is that sometimes the reason for the obstruction (like a stair) makes other passenger able to look into your cabin!

Wheather or not its a good deal is up to you. Is the prize more important than the view? Johan

its means your view is blocked !!

Ted
What does it matter? You are only in the room at night to sleep and could not see anything in the dark even if you had a "view".Enjoy the ship and all it's amenities and forget about your room. Believe me, they have so much, it is doubtful you will see your room hardly at all.

stella39
it means you will not have a clear view of the sea from your cabin.
Don't worry, you will be on deck most of the time and in your cabin to just sleep.

Have a great cruise

According to the article at this link (http://www.fodors.com/wire/archives/001387.cfm
it could mean that there's a lifeboat outside your window, or you may have a partial view of the ocean but partly of a wall of the ship etc. It just basically means you're not going to have a full uninterrupted view of the ocean.

However, unless you're planning on spending a lot of time in your room, it really shouldn't matter. When you go out, you'll have the same great views as anyone else.

Bad thing but can be secured at a lower price.
