I am going on a cruise this summer with my parents and one of my friends. My friend and I will both be 18 by time we go on the cruise. Is it true that 18 year olds are no longer allowed to drink alcohol on a caribbean cruise, even with parent permission? Oh and if it helps we are going on Celebrity Cruise Line. |

The legal drink age on all cruise ships is age 21 and it does not change when you are in international waters or docked in a foreign port. Its still age 21 and older. And all of the cruise lines DO enforce it. The only exception to this is if you cruise from a European or South American port and your parents are sailing with you and sign a waiver for you to have beer and wine. Otherwise always no.
BUT, when you get to the Caribbean and get off the ship you can drink all you want in the clubs, bars and restaurants because the drinking age is age 18 and older. Then you cannot bring alcohol back on board the ship either as it will be confiscated by the cruise line.
The cruise ships, including Celebrity, control access to alcoholic beverages by use of your cruise card which you will get when you first board the ship. It has all of your personal information embedded in a magnetic strip, including your name and age, and it is the charge card for buying anything on ship. |

Its 21 on celebrity, because it is an american owned company.
No matter where abouts you are sailing to or where you are from.
And even if you lie about your age so your seapass card (the card all expenses are charged to) has 21 on it, it doesn't matter because most bar's (if they think you look under 21) Will ask for i.d anyway.
Best bet is to take someone over 21 with you to buy drinks! |
