What is the best Cruise line for a couple?

My husband and I are looking into going on a cruise. We want to go on a cruise ship that has good rates, but we also want to choose one that is high class with good service and destination. Which is best?

Look into Celebrity and Holland America - and perhaps Princess [I have never sailed with Princess]. From the reading I've done recently at CruiseCritic.com, it sounds like Celebrity has deteriorated somewhat in quality. Some people think HAL is only for senior citizens, but that wasn't our experience, even on a 10-day cruise. It is very subdued and classy - it doesn't have the activity level that some of the other cruise lines have, however.

I suggest you get a book on cruising from your library to get an overall idea of the different lines. Then check out the CC website [click on "Boards" and/or "Reviews" at the top of the page - be sure and read passenger reviews!].

Hope you find just the right cruise for you.

First advice... Talk to a cruisespecialist i.e cruisesinc.com otherwise Holland, Crystal, Princess, SeaDream, Regent these are all lines you may want to look into.

I went on a 4night 5 day cruise through royal carribean. I absolutly loved it! Not only do u get free food, but there arealso soooo many things to do on the ship. I am constantly looking uo more cruises to go on and I would highly reccommend that you register at priceline.com! Every couple of days they will send you DEALBREAKERS that have cruises for VERY VERY VERY CHEAP!!! Just make sure you dont book the airfare/cruise deal... Its a rip off! Hope that helps! Also I joined EBATES.COM! anytime you order anything online u earn money back. Please it has discounts/coupons for free! WRITE ME IF U HAVE ANYTROUBLE! most people say that if u dont have children go on princess cruise line

Time travler
I have been on 8 cruise with Princess cruise lines and I think they are just great. They have good rates, but there ships and service are very classy. My favorite cruise so far was a cruise/tour to Alaska. I did and saw so much in 10 days. I have also been on a 29 day cruise from Sydney Australia to Los Angeles. Now that was a bit long, but very relaxing. For more info, go to Princess.com and you can check out there web site.

In my opinion, this is too broad of a question. Even within each cruise line company you will have a different experience on different ships. Depends on the destination, the time of year, the length of the cruise, the type of cabin you choose (suites can make a whole world of difference versus inside cabin). I've sailed everything from Carnival to Sea Dream, and just about everybody in between - and they are all different, but good in their own special way. It just depends on your specific goals and expectations for THIS cruise. For the mass market cruise lines (Carnival, Holland, Princess, Norwegian, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean) they are all pretty much priced the same or very close in destinations like Mexico and the Caribbean.
