TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
I have been on three Princess cruises and loved their ships, service, food and entertainment. I think that Princess has ships that are as nice as any cruise line. I have never been on Carnival. But its considered the budget cruise line so you get what you pay for. But as far as BEST cruise line is concerned, neither is.

The very best cruise lines are the very expensive ones like Radisson, Silverseas, Crystal and Windstar. Cruises on these lines start at around $4,000. to $5,000. The ships are smaller than the next tier of cruise lines but they offer more amenities and better service. Things that you pay for on Carnival and Princess, and other lines, are included in the price on these lines and ships.

Some people say go on Carnival because it is the lowest priced cruise line. Many people who have been on Carnival say its THEIR best cruise and do repeat cruises on them. I say don't go for a basic cruise line when you can get and have a much better cruise by paying just a little more. If you are in the 20 to 35 age group and like to party, party, party then Carnival may be perfect for you.

The cruise lines that I recommend are Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity and Norwegian, pretty much in that order. I have been on many cruises on these lines and know first hand that you will have great accommodations, food services and a great time. Cruises on these lines can be as low as $700 to $800 for an inside cabin for a 7-day cruise. There is generally a good mix of people of all age groups on these cruise lines, particularly to the Caribbean. Cruises to Panama, the Baltic area, the Mediterranean, and cruises that are more than 7 or 8 days generally have more older people. Holland America is a good cruise line but it tends to have THE oldest cruisers.

Its been my experience that regardless of the cruise line and ship, or your age, you can have as much fun as you want on a ship. If you do not have fun its because you do not try to.

I have been on both a Carnival cruise and a Rpyal Caribbean cruise. I find that the Carnival cruise is a little bit dull and not much on board to do. I prefer the Royal Caribbean cruise because there is sooo much to do. Rock climbing, ice skating, basketball, golf and swimming just to name a few.

The best part of the Carnival cruise was the night life. Going to the clubs and comedy shows. However, during the day if you were on board the ship there was absolutely nutting to do but go swimming.

The Royal Caribbean cruise is ten times better. Its a little bit more expensive than the Carnival cruise but definately worth it.

I prefer royal caribbean. I have cruised with royal and carnival and the service was a lot better on royal caribbean. The carnival ship I cruised on was horrible, the food and service were bad, the ship very dated, no activities during the day and the nightlife was nonexistent. Royal Caribbean was the complete opposite. Never a dull moment, always something to do day and night, food and service were excellent.

I just came back from Royal and not very happy, there food was cold half the time, service was bad, I would suggest Princess never had a problem with them.

david
As far as what I think you are asking..............Royal Carib, Celeb, or Princess are the best

Daniel I
Both of them are rubbish, P&O Cruises are the best cruise line by far and are cheap and have great stuff to do and go to brilliant places and the service is the best and enjoyable, everything you want on a cruise is on a P&O cruises which is so great, so if i was you i would go on a P&O cruise

There is no best cruise line. Each has their own strong and weak points. Often when people talk about the few options available on their Carnival Cruise, they were on an older ship, usually before the recent refits. Carnival is adding newer bigger and better ships every year. They had their older ships refitted, but are selling them to some of their foriegn subsidiaries as time goes by.

Incidentally, most people don't realize, Carnival Cruise Lines, owns Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Seabourn Cruise Line, P&O Cruises, Cunard Line, Ocean Village Cruises, Costa Cruise Line, Windstar Cruises and AIDA Cruises. They also own all or part smaller cruise companies around the world.

Royal Carribean has very nice ships with nice amenities. However, on the older RCCL ships an inside cabin averages 135 sq feet compared to 185 sq feet on a comparable Carnival ship.

No cruise line has the best ships on the 4 day cruises that many people start with. When looking for a cheap cruise, you end up on a 4 day cruise in an inside cabin on an older ship.

If you want to compare cruise lines, compare the current class of ships. The best way to do this is with a 7 day or longer cruise, so you can have a decent itinerary and the cruise staff has time for a decent on board schedule.

I always hate when people tell me that this cruise line was bad, and this one was good. When I hear that I usually find out the bad one was their first cheap 4 day starter cruise, and the good one was a 9 dat southern Caribbean cruise on a 1 year old ship.
