It depends on your income. I've been on a Royal Caribbean cruise, and it was very affordable, and has an average age of 35-65. Celebrity, Princess, Norwegian, and Cunard are also great cruise lines for the mature group, but they may cost more. The trick is that you want to take your cruise during the school year, not on school breaks in order to avoid all of the family vacations if you don't want a ship full of kids.

I think Royal Carribean is great

Norwegian - The facilities are absolutely amazing, and they tend to cater to older people.

I used to work for American Cruise Lines. It's a great small ship cruise...targeted to an older, more mature crowd. They focus on American history along the East Coast.

I would recommend Holland America, Celebrity, Cunard, or even Seabourn. Celebrity and Holland America would definately be my number one picks though, based off the fact that they market towards the mature cruiser, and cater to them onboard the ship.

I wouldnt recommend Royal Caribbean or Carnival at all, because those lines are geared more towards young families, and there tend to be a lot of children. Princess is a great line, and is alot of fun for couples. They aren't called the Love Boat for nothing!!!

I have heard that Celebrity cruises tend to cater to an older crowd, and so do Princess cruises.

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
Go on any of the cruise lines except Disney and Carnival. I have been on about a dozen cruises on Celebrity, Norwegian, Princess and Royal C and they all had mature people.

Also consider this. The caribbean cruises and those to Mexico tend to have a younger crowd than those that go to Alaska, panama Canal, the Baltic, and the Mediterranian.

We enjoyed Celebrity's Millenium very much. We are in our 40s.

My wife and I are in the older category and found Celebrity to be suitable for us on 2 trips to the Carri bean and Mexico..

Holland american has the oldest demographics. Also celeberty is a bit more refined and upscale than most of the other mass market cruises. Usually the longer the cruise, the older the crowd as the longer cruises 10+ days tend to cost more and parents usually don't want to pull their kids out of school that long. Also, make sure you go while school is in session and avoid spring break time.

Our travel agent also helped me choose a cruise for my mom. They let her know that they had a senior's group rate on a couple of sailings.

Also, AARP (if you're a member) does have a travel service that my mom uses for hotels but they might do cruises too.
