2 things...swim with the sting rays...very kewl. Or rent a car and drive to "Hell". A neat little village on the other side of the island. You can WOW all your friends and send them a postcard postmarked from HELL. And then live a good life so that you never go back there :)
Visit www.caymanislands.ky for more info on things to do

I enjoyed swimming with the stingrays. It a very unique experience as they take you out to the middle of the ocean and it is only waste deep (you're on a sand bar) The rays are docile and come right up to you. They are just like pets and when the boats show they gather to be fed. If that doesn't interest you or if you are nervous about stingray after all the bad press go to the 7 mile beach. Lot's of great beach type activities including jet skis. Great water and sand. You'll have a great time there.

By all means, go swimming with the stingrays. You are taken on a boat a couple of miles out in the ocean to a sandbar which is about waist deep water. The stingrays know the sound of approaching motorboats mean FOOD. They swim in and you get in the water with them and are able to feed the stingrays from your hand.

These are fully barbed animals and the females are large (about 3 feet across) but no one ever gets stung. It is an experience you will not forget.

The shopping on Grand Cayman includes Black Coral. It is beautiful but is not allowed back in the USA. If you do buy any, it will be confiscated by US Customs. The Rolex watches are cheaper than in the US but you do have to declare them to Customs or risk having them confiscated.

Yes, the Tortuga Rum Cake is delicious.

Another tip in the Grand Caymen, is it is a great place to shop. The prices are great, like a real Rolex watch is half the price. Just make sure you ask the cruise staff which store is reputable. Also don't forget to try the Tortuga rum cake. It's to die for.

I loved the port of Grand Caymen on my last cruise! I went on the swimming with stingrays excursion. It was a blast. you were so up close and personal with these amazing creatures it was almost too hard to believe. That was definitely the highlight of that port but also the shopping that i encountered was awesome. in all of the caribbean islands its so easy to make a deal with the seller because when i comes down to it all they want is your money. i had to even buy and extra luggage bag to bring back all my souveniers from the islands i vistited. Just make sure if you do decide on swimming with the stingrays to book the tour through a high rated tour company and make sure you dont have too many people on your tour because i've seen some of those boats get immensly crowded. Also another fun thing to do at this port is to get a 2 part tour of the stingrays and then a snorkel tour. i love the water and this is just my preference for this port but goodluck with your cruise and i hope you enjoy every minute of it!

Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards", then "Ports of Call", then "Grand Cayman" for lots of info about activities in GC.

I've been three times. I'd recommend a first-timer go to Stingray City, but do it on your own. There are several companies that people on CC recommend; I've used Captain Marvin and Nativeway; both were great.

Shopping is supposed to be good, but I wasn't impressed. However, I wasn't looking to buy jewelry, etc. If you do want to shop for something pricey, make sure you do some shopping before you go so you know when you've got a good price.

We went snorkeling, to the rum cake factory, and to the sea turtle sanctuary. Oh, and to Hell, the city. The sea turtle sanctuary was amazing, they let you pick up baby sea turtles. We were there in january, so it was not the best weather for snorkeling (it was kinda stormy) but the fish were really pretty, and our guide fed a nurse shark. Oh, I almost forgot the BEST thing. We went to this sandbar out in the ocean where sting rays hand out, and we got in the water with them. You walk by shuffling your feet on the the bottom (the water is only 2-3 feet deep) so you dont step on their stingers. And you can feed them squid. Our guide picked one up and it spit water all over me, but it was really cool. We had so much fun that we ended up buying a $60 video of it to show all our friends.

Swim with the sting rays. Also this port is one of the most expensive for shopping. Wait for your shopping for another port.
