Go to the Atlantis Resort. It is amazing. You will be allowed to see the "Dig" and you can use there beach. The only thing you are not allowed to use are the pools and slides.
ALso - stop in the casino - I won $300 on the slots!!

I have cruised with Carnival in the past, and my absolute favorite things to do in Nassau are:
1. Go snorkeling - do not miss out on the beautiful Caribbean waters, ocean/reef life, and the feeling of being in the water with such peace and beauty. It is truly a great experience and a lot of fun.
2. Go to Paradise Island - you don't need an excursion for this one, you can just take a water taxi over to it. See the Atlantis resort, enjoy the beach, and have lunch at Atlantis or some other cool resort hotel.
Either of those will make for a great time in Nassau. My personal opinion... pass up the straw market, not enough to see or buy there.
