I always start my research on vacationstogo.com. I can find a cruise and get all the information about the ship, cabins and ports of call. Then I go to other places to see if they can do better. Cruisecompete.com is one. Ask that all port fees, taxes and surcharges are included so that you can compare apples to apples. Do some research about any travel agent you choose. If you want to go to a brick and mortar TA ask if they are cruise specialists. And lastly ask if they will honor any price drops if they occur and if they charge any "change fees". If you do not like the answer you get keep looking.
I have booked with brick and mortar, online agencies and directly with the cruiseline.
I would suggest a 7 day cruise, the shorter the cruise the wilder the party scene gets. Bon Voyage.
Do not let anyone disuade you from Carnival. They did not get to be the largest cruise company by producing a bad product. Half of all their customers are repeats. |

I refuse to do travel agents. I book directly through Carnival through a Carnival rep. I got burned by a travel agent once, so I refuse to give them my business. They wanted 1200 pp for a flight on the same plane I got the flight for 300 pp. |

I use my American Express card for everything my wife and I purchase. We accrue a lot of points. Each year we end up with enough points to go on a great cruise. What is great about it is American Express has their own travel agancy with great rates. You book witht hem and they bill it ot your card and then your point value is credited to your card. It is so awesome. I know this may not help you now for a cruise but seriously think about it in the future!
I have a hobby travel blog dedicated to the Caribbean and to Cruise vacations. Come join us and ask some questions from experienced cruisers on our forums.
My wife and I just booked a Carnival Cruise on the Glory for February 21st 2009 with 4 of our friends. We have never sailed on Carnival but are looking forward to seeing how they compare with our other cruises.
We love Celebrity Cruise Line but are trying to breal out and try others. There are some great articles about Carnival cruises in my signature to this post. I hope they help. If you get booked on a cruise please tell us about it and when you are going. |

You will find better rates and more free stuff added to your cruise booking by not going direct. |

In addition to booking directly with Carnival, there are websites like VacationsToGo.com, and CruiseOne.com. Sign up for newsletters and they will tell you about deals. |

From my experience, Carnival is usually one of the highest priced "agencies" to go through (as unbelievable as that sounds!) My family and friends go on cruises every year or every other year. There are two sites that I like to use: Cruise.com and also PlanningCruises.com have had the best prices. The last two trips have been won by Planning Cruises, and I speak to Nancy or Marietta.
In addition, if you get five cabins sold, you will get some perks. At eight cabins, one passenger has free room and board, but has to pay port charges, fuel surcharges and taxes.
Have a good time! |

The best way is go to a travel agent and tell them you are organizing a cruise for a group of friends. I be believe if you can get around 6 couples to go your cruise is paid for. You travel for free. Once you find out how many it takes then you can round up your friends. If you don't want to take your friends put and ad in the paper and get your cruise for FREE |
