I have always booked my trips online w/ different online travel deals...I shop around and only use reputable companies that offer the best deals. I also found that if I shopped around online & made notes, then called the customer service line directly and discussed the other deals I had found...they generally came up with some additional incentives. Have fun!!

IN my experience they are the same for a cruise. But booking with a TA, you can have your questions answered by a person rather than EMail.

been on many cruises travel agent has better deals

Use a travel agent. They usually have "special deals" because they do group bookings which means you can get something free too! Like the travel agency I work for, most of our group rates include a free dinner coupon, a free robe, free wine, casino money, or even on board credit! You don't have to have a whole group, you just buy your one cabin. If you have a really good agent, they will even send you a thank you card when you come back or even have a surprise waiting for you on the ship.

There is no difference. A TA may cut out commission to make it cheaper or have a group discount to offer you but it is never much difference.
Also if you book a cruise with a TA you can not call the cruise line directly to make changes or get information on your reservation. They are not able to release information on a contract that you signed up for with a TA.

same price, however there are a few advantages to each. For example, if the price of the cruise goes down after you book it, the cruise line will usually give you a refund or an onboard credit for the price difference. A TA may or may not. Although TAs and the cruise line sell at the same price, sometimes the TA will give you a different kind of incentive like free travel insurance or a free shore excursion.

Travel Agents may have the same price as the Cruise Line , however , if a Travel Agent has a group already on that cruise , you could get that price and a whole lot more.
Also , a person who responded saying if a sale price comes through , the cruise will credit you the diff is incorrect. They will only credit you if you call them and notify them of the price change . A TA will check it for you untill you depart.
Some TA'S will always book cheaper than cruiselines.
The Company I work for always has cheaper prices than the cruiselines do.If you call around , you may find other Travel Agencies that are like that also.

Beleive it or not we are given schedules long before its released online.
I get several e-mails daily about hot deals and specials that you would never find online.
We have the expertise of finding hot deals and the many details that go along with a cruise.
Just think. Your going to a foreign country. Dont you want to be able to contact a human.
I would love to book this for you and show you how convenient it is. There is no fee because we are compensated by the cruise line. You have nothing to loose.

Be very careful when booking on-line. How can you tell if someone is reputable or not on-line? How do you know they even exisit other than the web-site and a phone line? If something goes wrong will you be able to go back to that company on-line and have the problem resolved?

Use a travel agent. Have them get you the best price, and let them handle all the details. If there's a problem you have an advocate and recourse.

Good luck!
