What is the lifestyle like of working in a cruise ship?
It depends on the job you have. Lower level workers are just like slaves, but for them it is better than their home country. Others like waiters and entertainers have a bit more fun, still a very hard job they get to get off in ports from time to time. The accommodations are very basic, room and bathroom plus food. The rooms are the size of a normal cruise room but at least four people are packed in the room.

a notch up from slavery. one worker on the first cruise I was on said that he make about 800 to 900 a month. he also said that it was better being on the ship than being in the country he was from.

I befriended a group of Fillipinos on a trip once. They stuck together and generally had a decent time late at night after most people were asleep. But they were at sea for 11 out of 12 months, and had to use phone cards to call home. I bought several of them phone cards for a tip before I left.
On another trip I befriended a girl from Hungary. She said she loved to see the world and that was what kept her going. She had a child with family at home and sent her money home. She didn't seem very sad, just a little lonely.
There seem to be some favorite destinations among the crew. So far I've identified Cozumel and Guatemalan Antigua as favorites. Some of them like the Alaska trips, some not. I make it a point to talk to them, it's part of the fun of going.

If there is any dispute between a passenger and crew the passenger is always right, no matter that they are saying that you have put an alien in thier food. The worst ones are the Yanks, very demanding, loud and obnoxious. To a man and woman they are like Jerry Springer contestants, ignorant trailer trash with money.
