The price of the cruise posted on an advertisement is generally the per person rate. You'll need at least two people per room. Taxes and port fees may or may not have been included in the price you saw. If you check the small print, it should tell you.

The price includes: room, food, shows, ship-board activities etc

It doesn't include extras: alcohol, soda, spa treatments, shore excursions, photos, gratuity, etc

You can realistically not spend another dime (with the exception of gratuity) on a cruise. But it does make it more fun to be able to take tours or get a massage. However, there is free entertainment all over the cruise. You would never be bored.

The basic cruise fare includes your room, meals in the regular dining rooms and buffets, room service, shows, and most ship facilities. Many ships also have free pizza, ice cream at various times. sushi, and hot dogs and hamburgers.

The extras are first tips. Figure about $10 per day per person for the tips to the room steward and wait staff. This is optional and some cruise lines automatically charge you. It can be adjusted or reversed at the end of the cruise. You should also tip a few dollars if you use room service. All bar drinks will have 15% added for a tip.

Many ships have alternate dining facilities that have a service charge of $15 on up. It may be a steak house or an Italian restaurant for example. There are also specialty coffee bars that charge. All bar drinks including sodas have a charge. The only free bar drinks are at the Captains Reception and the Repeat Cruiser Reception. Do not assume that the drinks being offered when you board are free. They are not. Some ships are even charging for juice at any meal other than breakfast.

There is a charge for any personal service such as laundry, salons, private trainers, etc. There is also gambling which includes the casino, bingo, and sometime deck games such as horse racing. A ship photographer will be taking pictures all over the ship and at special occasions. They cost over $10 each. Phone calls in the room are about $8 a minute. Some ships have cell phone service. You are charged for international roaming by your phone service at about $3 per minute. There is also a charge for using internet service on a ship but it is cheaper than phone calls.

Off ship excursions are expensive. They start at about $30 and can be in the hundreds. You can book them on the ship or go on your own. The ship will not leave without you if a cruise excursion is late. With one you did on your own they will not wait.

Actually, that 500 is not the TOTAL cost for a cruise. It depends on where you are going, which cruise line, and when you are going.

A cruise just for the cruise can range for a 3 day from 199 pp + fuel surcharge, and pre paid gratuitys to 499 pp + fuel charge, plus pre paid gratuity.

a 7 day can ranve from 349 + fuel surcharge and pre paid gratuity to 1999 + fuel and gratuity.

Why am I saying prepaid gratuity? well, you figure at 10$ per day per person, that is 140 for a 7 day cruise that comes off your sign and sail account right off the bat. IF you pre pay these, you don't have that on your card showing. Plus, you can pay it as you pay on the cruise, and be able to save money for your on board purchases.

such as..... if you don't prepay the gratuity, then you save lets say 1000 for your on board purchases. 140 of that comes off the top. that cuts you down to 860 to spend. IF you are heavy drinkers, that 860 goes fast at 4 - 13 dollars per drink. However, if you pay it in advance, that gives you that much more on the cruise. I know, sounds weird, but trust me, if you have a limited budget on board, it helps to have this already paid.

I try to say that 850 pp is about average. A normal 7 day cruise cost me with pre paid gratuity about 1799 for the 3 of us. sometimes 2200 for the three of us. depends on when I book the cruise, and what the cost is. I have booked a 7 day for as low as 1600 for the three of us. and I have paid as high as 2400 for the same cruise route same days and same ship.

Well the basic cruise fee includes cabin, food and services such as entertainment.

If it looks to cheap youre probably have to add taxes and port charges for minimum so be sure to check whats included.

Cheap cruises doesnt include any kind of transportation to and from the ship so if you live in another city youll had to add flights and ground transportation.

Also consider that some cruise lines will ad a pre paid tip (usually $10 per day) to your cruise charge.

Also consider thats cruise prices never include things as most beverages and all alcoholic beverages, casino play, spa and shore excursions. Thus will be extras if you like any.

Ill guessing that the current financial crise make less people willing to go on a cruise and thus makes the cruise companys lower theyre prices to get ppl onboard. The cruise lines major income is revenues and that isnt gonna be if theyre is empty cabins.

Once you get onboard, there is tipping (sometimes now automatically added to your ship and sail account), beverages (pop and alcohol), gambling money (if you do that); shore excursions; bingo etc; shopping that all cost extra.

The extra costs on a cruise depends on a number of things and what you desires are. Sometimes it depends on the cruise line.
The cruises that charge $3000 for a week will most likely include everything.
Most cruise lines charge extra for a fuel tax per day. There are port charges. These are usually listed in the cost when you book.
Other charges are for:
drinks, soda, daily fee for tips, every time you buy a beverage they add on 15% gratuity.
if you book excursions, there are shops on the ship to buy items
sometimes there is a coffee shop that charges, there usually is a casino on board
if you use the spa or sauna, sometimes there is a charge for those services, there usually is a beauty salon on board
would you like a massage? - right! you get to pay for it
The extras for a very low price cruise would probably the $10 per day per person, gratuity that is added for everyone on the ship. The port charges will be listed when you are booking - they do vary from cruise to cruise and how you book.
The rest of the cost depends on how frugal you are.

The price that you saw is correct since they can't add on more money but you should look and see if they say anything about port taxes or gratuity. Some ship charge gratuity ($10.50) per person per day and is automatically added on but you can go to customer service or the Purser's Desk and tell them that you do not want to be a part of it and they will take you off. If you do not want to spend anymore money that the cost of the cruise you do not have to. Just do not order any juices except for breakfast, any alcohol, drinks from the bar, sodas etc. If you order any wine at dinner you have to pay. Any special ice cream you have to pay for but there is free ice cream with dinner along with all types of desserts. Spa treatments you have to pay for also eating in the Steak House which is $15 or 20 per person.

On the site you will be able to read all the information on the total cost of the cruise as well as what you have to pay for and what is free. All tours from the ship are more expensive that with taxi drivers outside.

If you get a smaller room w/ no windows or a balcony it can be about $100 per person per night which usually includes almost all food. It includes all food except fancy stuff.
Beverages are not included but most ship-sponsored activities are. Land excursions are also not included.
You can take a week long cruise for one person for easily under $1,000 but then it will go up when you purchase beverages and go to the casino and land excursion and etc.
