OK............the major cruise lines all have modern magnificent fleets and they are all wonderful. What you have to do is check for sale prices...and there are many now !!!
The prices now are wonderful but are still based on the deck you choose and if you have inside or outside stateroom. Since you are not in your room very much I always choose the inside room on the lowest or 2nd lowest deck...those are the best prices. Also...often if they have rooms on the upper decks that are empty hey will put you there at no extra charge...You can always ask when you board. |

I personally like Holland American Line. They have very sophisticated things and formal dining as well as informal buffet. The rooms are very nice and have very comfy beds. The Statendam, I think is the best. It is smaller with less people which means more attentiveness to you. |

It depends on what you are looking for. If you are going for the best cruise, go on the small expedition cruises although it is pricier than the huge liners. There are some very expensive ones for they are posh but the smaller vessels such as the Clipper vessels (M/V Clipper Adventurer and M/V Clipper Odyssey) are great for discovering far flung islands and places. Ever thought about cruising Antarctica?
There would be no real entertainment but you will learn much more about the places you visit. Land tours are all arranged and included. This is nor about shopping and just having been 'there'.
These vessels are chartered by expedition companies so there is not one single site for them. However, you can check out the ff:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=95012
http://www.quarkexpeditions.com/our-company/overview
http://www.akclipperodyssey.com/
You will find out about other smaller vessels but you will most definitely enjoy your cruises and travel abroad. |

I like the say that there is no such things as the best cruise ship but there is a best cruiseship for you. Thus you have to decide what you want from a cruise and a cruise ship and how expencive it can be.
If were talking in terms of best service the cruise ship Europa have been given top rankings in berlitz comlete guide to cruise and cruise ships. But expect such a cruise to be VERY expencive.
As for more affordible cruises I liked my cruise on Royal Carebiean and theyre got some amazing cruise ships and theyre latest generation of cruise ships looks preatty amazing. Johan |

It depends on your cruising experience and your tastes. If this is a first cruise, then most people agree that a Royal Caribbean in one of the larger cruise ships (Voyager or Freedom class) may be what you want. If you want a higher class of experience that does not break the bank you can go with one of the Celebrity cruises. If you want a family with children experience then Disney is the way, though the aforementioned cruise lines also do a good job. |

Oceania
only 600 or so passengers so disembarking at ports will not involve long lines and lots of time
very elegant in terms of service, accomodations, dining but at the same time casual dress is the norm
the only drawback is small swimming pool but its a good tradeoff to ships with 2000+ people |

Hi, im a big cruise traveler, and i love cruises. The best cruise lines in the world to me, are Royal Caribbean and Carnival. Its hard to decide what i like better. Carival has so many activities, and fun onboard and amazing ports. Royal Caribbean is probably my favorite though, some of their ships are real jaw droppers. The best cruise ship, and the biggest cruise ship, is Freedom of the Seas, i will be traveling on that soon. It has a thiry foot rock climbing wall, and and ice skating rink, water slides, and something called the Flo Rida. The flo rida is an onboard surfing activity. To be truthful, all Carnival and Royal Caribbean ships are amazing. I like to usually only travel on those to cruise lines. You should try out Carnival for one of your first cruises, if this is your first. Its a little cheaper, and you will have an amazing time. I suggest to go on Carnival Victory or Destiny. Two of my favorite ships on the cruise line. On Royal Caribbean, thats when you have been on a cruise or two before, and you enjoyed them, you can go on RC, its more exspencive, but worth every penny. I suggest Freedom of the Seas or Liberty of the Seas, Good Luck, And Have Fun Cruising. Hope i helped. |

Depends what you want / where to go. We started with the big cruise lines, Princess, NCL, P+O etc. and thoroughly enjoyed them initially.
Then we gradually realised how shallow they are and the rip of charges for poor quality shore excursions etc.
We now only go on very small exploration type ships (typically 100 people) as you get personal service and see/do things not possible on big ships. Typical trips = Galapagos islands (animals/birds) , Greenland (icebergs), Spitzbergan (Polar bears and Walrus on a converted 12 person 300 ton trawler with no facilities but probably the best cruise ever), Indian Ocean islands (birds/tortoise/lemurs etc.) Antarctica/South Georgia (twice and 3rd time booked for 2009).
So try a big impersonal ship, then chose a specialist a ship and compare! Bet you gravitate to small ships! |
