What shore excursions should I do?

I'm leaving on Sunday (Jan. 7th) for a cruise on the Carnival Valor going to Belize City, Roatan, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman. If you've taken a cruise to these places, what shore excursions would you recommend? I think we're doing the Mayan ruins shore excursion in Belize...otherwise I'm open to suggestions/comments. Please let me know what you think I should or shouldn't do in these ports. Thanks! Also, if you've sailed on the Valor, what did you think? I've read some pretty bad reviews on it, but I'm hoping that's not the case.

It is your lucky day! I worked in the Shore Excursion Dept for Carnival for 5 years and lived in Belize for 18 months.

Belize - You mentioned that you wanted to see the Mayan ruins and this really is a highlight in Belize. It is not promoted much on the ship but the Xunantunich excursion is heaps better than Altun Ha. Belize City is a dive so don't feel bad that it is a long tour and won't give you time to see Belize City. You really are not missing much.

Roatan - If you have never done it before, do the Dolphin Encounter as it is really great to spend time with amazing creatures of the deep. If that's not your cup of tea, go to the beach or jump on any one of the many sailing trips.

Cozumel - If you do Xunantunich in Belize, there is no need to go to Tulum as well. It is really hard to say which tour would suit you best but some of the best are...Xcaret, Sunset Horseback: The Mayan Experience, Eco Jeep, Sunset Snorkel, & Dinner.

Grand Cayman - Allura Catamaran Sail to Stingray City Sandbar then explore Georgetown on your own. After the beaches of Cozumel and Roatan, 7 mile beach will be a big disappointment.

Have fun

I went on the Valor, but to eastern caribbean, the boat goes between the different parts of the caribbean. I had an amazing trip, no complaints except for the small size of the pools, but everything else was perfect. The food was delicious, our waitress was fantastic, she made dinner so entertaining. The boat was very clean. The crew were all very friendly and always willing to help. There was always lots to do on the cruise. The shows were tons of fun at night time, the valor dancers are amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better trip, it was just perfect. Sorry i couldn't be of help with the shore excursions, but all i can say is DO NOT book through the cruise they rip you off. Enjoy your trip, I'm sure you will

My wife and I, along with a couple friends, went on the Carnival Elation to the Eastern Caribbean for a 7 day cruise. We hit Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas, and a couple others. We did not hit the places you will, but they are all very similar.
We went jet skiing, which was VERY cool. The helmet dive and snorkling are great wherever you go.
My crowd is in the 28-31 age range, so tours of ruins is not quite our cup of tea.
No matter what you do, now, stay with a group. Do not just wander off without people, or with a "local tourguide" who is not affiliated with Carnival. Bad idea.

Have fun, and Bon Voyage!
