What should we do in Ft. Lauderdale after the cruise is over?

The day we get off the boat what should we do? We have a late flight at 5 PM and since we get off the boat around 8 or 9 am I don't know what we should do with our time? It will be the first week of March so I don't know if we'd like to go to the beach or do something else? Any ideas or suggestions?

I found something on http://www.tripadvisor.com that sounded kind of different-it's a sightseeing cruise that takes you on a tour of yachts, celebrity homes, and cruise ships. They've got 3 different cruise times, one at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. The 1:00 cruise would give you plenty of time to get off the ship (in case you get off later than 8 or 9 since you do have a later flight than what some other passengers have) and get lunch somewhere near wherever they start the cruise. You'd be done by 3 and should have enough time to make your flight. I don't know that I'd want to do the beach the day you get off the ship, only because if you're not going to have a hotel room, you'll be all hot and sticky from the beach and then have to get on an airplane....it's up to you though :D I've never done the sightseeing cruise, so I don't know any more than what's on the website, but it looks like fun and the rates don't look half bad either! Good luck!

Go to Gator Park- lots of fun if it is not raining cats and dogs.
Might see you on the Cruise, I will be there! Find me and say Hi, I look just like my avatar.
Royal Caribbean, here I come!

If you are from up north, the beach should be just fine in March. Other ideas are:
Rent a car and check out Everglades National Park
Key Largo
Zoo
Botanical Gardens
Coral Castle - and odd ball tourist things, but still very interesting

These things aren't necessarily in Ft Lauderdale, more like "South Florida" and all easily accessible from the Ft Lauderdale area.

Find some way to ditch your bags, maybe the airline will let you check them in early. You only need your money, a t-shirt, a hat, a swimsuit and your sandals. Also have a towel for sitting on, laying out or drying off.

Stay in Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood. (That means not attempting to battle traffic down into Miami or to the Keys.) Fort Lauderdale beach is closest to the port and airport.

The beach is a good time. Eat lunch at one of the beach front restaurants and pay tourist prices or ask locals where to find the Quarterdeck for low cost lunch and beers.

If their is too much wind to sit on the beach then get all day tickets on the Watertaxi and see Fort Lauderdale from the water, and eat at one of the waterfront restaurants for lunch then wonder down Las Olas and the River Walk.

If it rains a little just laugh, if it rains all day you could go to the IMAX movie or SawgrassMills for super shopping.

If you spend the day at the beach make sure to wash the salt off at one of the beaches fresh water showers before going to the airport.
