When they say 5 then be back at 4. The ship will absolutely leave without you unless you are on an excursion booked on the ship. They usually stop boarding about 1/2 hour before sailing at the ports. For the starting port they may cutoff 1 1/2 hours before departure.

At every port stop there will be announcements over the public address system informing you of when you can get off the ship and also what time to be back on. They will also have that information in writing to hand to you or for you to pick us as you leave the ship. There is usually a flier about the port and shopping there and the departure information is on the flier. And the same information will be on the ship information TV channel.

Normally if a ship docks at 8:00 AM it will take about 30 minutes for them to tie up, pull out the gangplank and set up the security station for passengers to get off. Then they will allow departures. If the ship has a 5:00 PM departure time then you need to plan to be back on board AT LEAST a half hour beforehand, but an hour would be better as there will usually be a long line of people getting back on the ship.

I t leaves at 5, you should be back a half hour before that. The boat will also be on the same time as where you departed from, they call that ship time. It does not natter what the actual time is where you are stopping so do not change your watch. The cruise line will also let you know what time they expect you back.

You need to be back 30 mins before departure. For example if you are going to be at a port of call from 8 - 5. They are basically telling you that you can get off the ship starting at 8. and that the ship leaves at 5. So that's why you need to be back 30 mins or sooner before the ship departs.

Listen for announcements from the ships staff. they will tell you exactly when to be back on board.

The ship absolutely WILL leave without you if you are late unless you are on a ship's excursion. I've seen people have to take the pilot boat out to the ship [at their own expense, of course] and then have to climb a rope ladder to the boarding ramp - with arms full of shopping bags! One of the crew members who was watching this with us commented on how nice the Captain was for letting them board and that they won't usually do that. [This is why you want to have your passport with you - without it, you won't be able to get a flight to the next stop.]

When you disembark at your port of call, there will be a sign telling you what time you need to be back on the ship. Make sure you allow ample time - you never know when you might be delayed by traffic, etc. You will hear an announcement about when you may disembark at your port, usually within an hour of the scheduled port time.

I say be back before 5, if the ship sails you're left there. Most of the time customs clearance takes a little longer, but you are off the ship around the time they tell you.

no the ship wont leave u trust me i was an hour and a half late they cant leave u because they ARE responsible for you. and u have to be back before five and it means that they will arrive at 8 it may be a few after once u dock or take a tender
