What type of room should we get for our honeymoon cruise and is October a bad month to go? |
We are booking our cruise for our honeymoon right now and we want to go with most efficient decision so we have extra money to spend. The interior room seems to be the best decision. But, the ocean view room is only 100 bucks more for both of us. I've been told that you can't see out the window anyways cause the salt sticks to it and makes it foggy. The balcony room is $400 bucks more each. But we'd be able to go out and see the ocean and stuff. And it won't be so claustrophobic. Is the room really that important? Since we'll be having so much fun on the ship?
And by the way thank you so much for the previous answers on whether or not to have my honeymoon on the cruise. I really appreciate the advice! :) |

Hey hun,
First off congrats on getting married!!!
I have usually found that what kind of room you want really should go with what kind of money you want to spend. Each have their pros/cons. For instance, an inside room is great on the wallet and if your guy is anything like my guy he loves the room totally dark when he sleeps. Plus with the money you save from not going with the balcony room you could do tons of shore excursions and other fun stuff. The down side is the room is not as big and no window.
The window cabin is nice for when you come into port about being able to see things. The money per person is not bad but the rooms are usually the same size as the inside room. It just has a window. And I usually think of it this way, while a window is cool there are no street lights out in the ocean at night so you won't be able to see anything anyways.
A balcony is awesome of course but it can hurt in the wallet region. Of course it's your honeymoon and you want to go all out but like I said before with the money you save doing a smaller room you could swim with dolphins or do a jeep trip on an island and personally I would remember those things more then the room we stayed in.
Also October is a good month to go. It is considered more offseason then during the summer or over christmas. The only downside is it is within hurrican season which runs from june to november. Thankfully cruise lines have ways to get around the storms and keep you safe.
If you need help with anything else please let me know. I would be more then happy to help.

Congrats again hun!!!! |

The salt doesn't stick to the windows on outside cabins, that's nonsense. If you only plan to do this once, go all the way, if you can afford it, of course.
Yes, you would only be using your cabin to sleep in....among other stuff, but it's all part of the experience, so do as much as you can. Make it all as comfortable as you can.
Congratulations and Good Luck |

Balcony rooms are nice but if you don't want to spend the money then don't. You will that you would not spend a lot of time on the balcony especially on your honeymoon. However, do spend the extra and get an oceanview room. They are bigger and feel less confining because of the outside light. The windows are fairly large and you can clearly see out of them. On the downside, if you are going to the Caribbean October is not a good month. You will be in the middle of hurricane season (August-November) so the weather will be extremely unpredictable and if you get bad weather and the ship "rocks" it might put you off cruising which would be a terrible shame as it is a most enjoyable way to vacation. |

CONGRATS!!!
I personally don't like inside cabins because I get a little claustrophobic. I have had all three types of rooms and they all served the purpose at the time. I would probably go for the Oceanview opposed to the Balcony, if I was you, to save on cash. But with that said you are right you'll be having so much fun with the activities on the ship you will only need the room for sleep and since it's your honeymoon well... So if be with out a window doesn't make you claustrophobic then by all means save your money and get that inside room and spend the extra cash on drinks, pictures, excursions and souvenirs.
Most of all have fun in which ever room you choose. |

A balcony would be my choice. Call in for room service for breakfast and dine on your own private deck. Watch the romantic sunset on your private balcony. It's your honeymoon!
However if you do choose an oceanview cabin, be sure to tell the travel agent you want a large window. Some oceanview cabins only have two small port holes. And you really can't appreciate the ocean views through port holes.
Have a wonderful honeymoon ! |

A Balcony is def. the way to go-sittingoutside int he morning having breakfast, or having a drink int he evening watching it seet in your pjs is AWESOME!
If you cant spring for the balcony try a nice unobstructed oceanview, and I'm not quite sure what cruises you are pricing out but the difference in balconies usually isnt that different especially in October. I have traveled the end of Oct. and it was fine. Talk to a professional travel agent and they can get your some great deals, not to mention sometimes you can get perks like wine, or on board credit! |

Go for a good outside stateroom.
Talk to a travel agent (phone or email). A good travel agent can find you the best value (maybe even a balcony within you budget). |

My first choice would always be a balcony room. Can you imagine waking up to the smell and sound and beauty of the ocean? It is so worth the extra money, even on your honeymoon. Limit what you spend on the ship by say having just 1 or 2 drinks a day and not buying a bunch of stuff on the ship. Also for excursions, pick just one or two that are must dos for you. If you say have 4 stops, the other two, you can do some walking or sightseeing on your own. Just be sure to get back to the ship on time as I have seen people miss the ship on every cruise that I have been on( I have been on 8 princess cruises). Have a wonderful honeymoon. |
