I'm 15 and I have been on 7 cruises. I have been on Carnival, Disney, Princess, and Royal Caribbean. I have to say Disney was by far my least favorite. I went on it when I was 8 and when I am a parent, and if I ever decide to go back on one of those things, I'll make sure my kids are all under the age of 5. I felt like a senior citizen on that ship. There were little toddlers running around and peeing and the Mickey Mouse pool every which way you looked. Disney cruises lack the sophisticated and relaxing yet still fun type of vacation I prefer. The food also wasn't anything to brag about and the only line I would chose Disney over would be that European Ocean Village line--never been on one, never will go on one. Saw one of their ships in Barbados last month and it was awful looking. This picture is an overstatement:

The Disney cruise is a children's cruise that accommodates adults....not an adult cruise that accommodates children.

If you cruising with very young kids...8 or under.. Disney is a great option. The service personnel are especially attentive to the little ones. The menus and decor are to suit the children guests.

Disney is very masterful at logistics and the ships are very clean and nice.

On the downside, it was Mickey Mouse overload. Every time I turned around, there was a Disney character and a photographer that wanted to take our picture.

Now that my girls are older (tween and teen), we prefer Carnival.

I haven't made it on a Disney cruise yet. That mouse is greedy. Ouch$$$$!!! I think they do a wonderful job though, from what I've heard.

Personally, the only way I would sail on Disney would be if I had kids under the age of 5. Otherwise, I would go with Carnival. Disney cruises are geared towards kids. If you think you would get sick of hearing Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck talking on the intercom after 2 days I would definatly not recommend it. Plus, you will be outnumbered. Usually there is around a 2-to-1 kid to adult ratio. I believe that Carnival is a better option becuase it has Camp Carnival which is geared for kids or Circle C designed for pre-teens and Club O2 for teens. This way your kids can have lots of fun but you can also have a relaxing vacation. I believe this is more of the win-win, whereas Disney is more win for your kids and you have to forfeit the relaxation. Just my opinion though.

I work for DCL, and I have traveled on other cruise lines as well. The last time I was on the Disney Wonder, I took my 2 grandparents with me. They are 85 and 86. They had a ball. Disney really puts the magic into their cruises, and makes even the oldest of kids feel young again. From the rotating dining experience in 3 restaurants, (or Palo's for 18 and above for a nominal charge), the personal meet and greets with the characters, the entertaining shows, or the fireworks from the smokestack onboard the ship (Disney is the only one who has fireworks), it is an awesome product.
If you are going soon, I hope you have a 'magical' journey.
Bon Voyage!
