What would you pack on a 116-day cruise? |

If you are going to be on a cruise ship for 116 days you should pack about the same as a 7 to 14 day cruise and then plan on having laundry done several times on the ship. The cruise lines that have cruises that last that long will have laundry service (its very expensive too) and depending on the line and the ship may have a self service laundry facility (you need to ask to be sure). Your cabin's clothes capacity will likely not be large enough for you to bring much more than what you could use for 14 days. So pack with the plan to do or have laundry done about every week or two.
Then here's how I would pack. The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00 PM. So take clothing and things to enjoy the ship, like; swim wear,
sun glasses and sun screen, lotions, a warmup suit or sweats to relax on ship in, a hoodie and/or a light jacket for the cool evenings, some books if you are a reader, your music player, sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym, good walking shoes, your camera, spare cards and charger, and binoculars, and other personal toiletries.
After 6:00 PM each day you'll want to wear "sports or resort casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, (like a bank employee). Don't over pack , take clothes that you can mix and match tops and bottoms and plan to wear each piece twice before you do laundry.
Your cruise will likely have a lot of formal night when you can wear your best stuff. So take a few dressy items to wear for them, and then plan on skipping some of te formal dinners and just go eat casual.
Some other packing tips:
- Its best to pack using soft-sided luggage because with space limited in your cabin it fits under the beds better if its not hard sided luggage.
- If you are taking your cell phone, MP3 player or other item that needs to be plugged in take an extension cord as the plugs in the cabin are generally not in the best places and there are usually only one or two.
- Take a small bottle of hand sanitizer and/or hand wipes. There are generally sanitizer dispensers at the entrances of restaurants, the buffets and dining room, but some times the are not there or not working. The sanitizer helps prevent the spread of the Norwalk Virus that sometimes occur on cruise ships.
- Take a can of air freshener for your cabin bathroom; it has no exhaust fan. |

depends on the trip you are going to take. it is almost 4 months. And i'd assume you would need all your wardrobe. There will be hot days cold days, hot days with cold nights. SO make sure you are prepared for all. |

i would pack for a 14 day cruise and be prepared to do laundry along the way just like i do at home.
you should check with the cruise line to make sure they have self service laundry facilities.
your other choice is to have it done for you, and it can be expensive.
also cruisediva.com has great packing lists.
cruisecritic.com has great info
enjoy your cruise. |

I went on a 29 day cruise and just packed as I would for a 2 week cruise. I brought with me a roll of quarters, plus some tide(that's laundry soap) too. I did laundry once a week, just like at home, but a lot more fun. I paid my bills right on the ship on line and checked my e-mail every other day or so. The hardest part for a long trip was leaving my dog behind. As far as formal nights were, I just brought 3 outfits and changed my accessories around. Besides, no one remembers what you wore a week ago, or even cares, except perhaps teens. Also on our long trip we had only 4 kids on board which was real nice. I hope to some day do a world cruise which I guess you are talking about. |

It would definitely depend on which ports of call and the time of year for me. Since the staterooms are so small, you can take about 2 weeks worth of clothing and plan on doing laundry while you are on the ship, or sending out for the laundry service. For the evenings, I would take versatile outfits that I can mix and match throughout the cruise. And to be on a cruise for that length of time, I would definitely pack my laptop and lots of books to read! |
