Whats the best cruise line for a first timer?

my SO and I are in our early thirties and will have two 17yr (his son and cousin) with us. We are just looking for a good (actually spectacular!) time for all of us together and then be able to do our own thing too. I'd rather the ship not to be loaded with mainly small children and not retirees either. This will be the first cruise for all of us, so we will be very psyched up and excited about what to expect. I really want the boys to be able mingle (a teen night club) and other interesting activities for teens and my SO and I would like to enjoy a romantic setting. lookin for goreous islands thats are lots of fun and pampering. Any suggestions?

Royal Caribbean has it all: a rock climbing wall, an ice skating rink, a mall of shops and restaurants, spas, nightly shows, live music and dancing and something for everyone. You will have a spectacular time on one of these ships.

This past summer my family and I went to the Eastern Caribbean on Carnivals Valor. It was our first cruise and we LOVED it!! I mean we went not knowing what to expect but it was perfect! The cruise was out of Miami Florida. It stopped in Bahamas, St Thomas and St Martin.

We are also going on the Princess Diamond this Spring Break. We've heard nothing but good things about this cruise.

So either Princess or Carnival would be a great first cruise, and they aren't super expensive. Try the website www.vacationstogo.com for great deals!

Happy Cruising!

The best one to go on for first timeers looking to have fun with teenage boys just looking to screw around is the Cost Magica!!!! That is the one we went on the islands in the Caribean were just the most buitful thing youve seen!! For fun there is an arcade, 3 pools waterslide, 5 hot tubs, casinos, lounges, wounderful rooms. There is also internet (coumputers with inertnet) There are always buffets set up if you dont want to go to those elignt nights at the buitful resturaunts with ocean view!!! every thing is ocean view!! Dont worry there are 1,000s of lounge chairs by the pool!!!

For your particular situation, three lines come to mind. The only one I would suggest avoiding is Carnival. They are an okay line, for the right people, not the best for everyone, quality and service has declined a lot though recently. Also, you will see a lot of younger kids and partying people onboard. If you are really wanting to be amazed, I don't think this is your best choice.

The line that I would look into first is Royal Caribbean. They are a fantastic line and have a ton to do for most everyone. I think that teens enjoy Royal Caribbean a lot more than other lines as well, there is a ton to do onboard. The Freedom of the Seas is an amazing ship, I highly recommend it and I think it would be perfect for what you are looking for.

Princess is a great line as well. It does tend to be a line for a slightly older age group, but still is enjoyable by all. Princess is a little more fancy than Royal Caribbean, food and service is also a little better. They have dedicated teen activities and areas, and most of the time teens really enjoy them. (I think it kind of depends on each kid, but for the most part they seem fun)

Finally, Disney. Not always the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about older kids and/or adults. But, Disney really is a great line. The service is great, ships are very clean, rooms are a nice size, shows are amazing, food is good, etc. Disney is most well known because of their amazing kid and teen programs, they have a ton to do for kids with all kinds of amazing activities. My sister was able to experience a good majority of the teen areas on different ships and Disney was her favorite by far. I think it would be a really great choice for everyone that will be going.

There are a lot of really great lines, but these are what popped in my head while reading your question. If I were to pick a ship for you, I would say either Royal Caribbeans Freedom of the Seas or the Disney Magic or Wonder, I really think that would be the best match.

I've included a link to Cruise Critic, this is one of the most extensive sites on the internet for cruising. There is a lot of reviews for each ship as well as info, also they have message boards. The message boards on Cruise Critic are great because you can go into the specific line you are looking for and get a lot of people that cruise quite often and/or have extensive knowledge of cruises.

Hope this helps!

It depends on where you want to go. I would agree that carnival is a great cruise line for the caribbean but Princess cruise (europe) is amazing! I noticed that there are a lot less kids on the Princess cruise too and Europe is something your teens would appreciate more and so will you. Its the perfect mixture of fun, family, and romance. Have fun!

Norwegian at the bottom of the preferred list, then Carnival, one up from there. Carnival survives because most people are not discriminating and don't know any better. Your kids are older and all cruise lines have great things for people that age. Carnival will have more little kids. Celebrity, RCL, Princess, or Holland America. My opinion is the Eastern Caribbean is better than the Western. Don't know where you live, but if you can sail out of San Juan, you get to the beautiful islands quicker and skip the two days at sea from Florida to get to the Islands.

Have fun

Stay away from NCL. The kids will be borred out of their minds.
