When you book now, you will for sure be able to get tickets, but at a higher price. I would wait until about two months before you want to go on a cruise to buy tickets. That way, they'll be cheaper, but you might not for sure get them. |

I would book now that way you can sort out all the other things like shore excursions and price and all that and I would look online and go to all the travel sites and even overstock.com for deals and then call a travel agent and especially the cruise line itself as they can get you better deals. Make sure you know when you want to go where and what type of room you want. Inside, ocean view, balcony, sweets and so on. Also know what cruise line you prefer and I would also highly highly recommend a passport they take about 8 weeks but it saves alot of time. No joke. If you book a couple months before they have a lot of better last minute deals but no guarantee that you can get the rooms or type of room you want but you might get a better deal on price and you might have a harder time finding flights down there, you can either book travel with the cruise line or you can book your own you actually save money doing it on your own but if your a first time cruiser I would definitely call the cruise line book early have a passport and do the travel with them. |

It is best to purchase a cruise as soon as you know when & where you want to go.
As your cruise approaches keep an eye on the prices offered by the cruiseline, if they lower you MIGHT be able to get the lower price. I would get several price quotes, 1 directly through the cruise line & also a travel agent. We work hard to get you the lowest prices in the best category available. When comparing prices you will need to know the category, type of stateroom, make sure all taxes & fees are included as well.
If you do not yet have a passport, please do so ASAP as you will not be able to cruise without one & it takes 6-9 weeks to obtain one.
Hope this has helped! |

My last cruise I booked 5 months out (August cruise). This next one we booked a year and a half. My last cruise I was in a 1A on Carnival, and I didnt really care where I was. This time I have rooms booked on Empress deck, one interior and one suite. It also gives me over a year to pay it off. If you watch the deals, etc, you can save a lot of money, all you have to do is call your PVP and have them make the adjustments. I saved a couple of hundred this last time. |

For Alaska, the the lowest rates are for cruises in May and Sept. For all others, Sept-Nov and Jan - Apr. Thanksgiving week, Christmas,/New Years, spring break, etc will cause spiked costs, but these are usually the lowest cost months to travel. |

July and August (except the last week of August) are the most expensive month of the year. Best bet is during the school seasons. October, Novem, Feburary, March are the best month to find the lowest prices. |
