It is usually better to book as far ahead of your travel date as possible to give you the best chance of selecting the cabin and deck that you want.
If cabin position and deck are not your main criteria, you could hang on until nearer the sail date of the cruise you are interested in for cheaper deals but you are taking a chance on not being able to book the ship or itinerary that you want.
There are not many cruise ships that sail with empty cabins so if you want a cruise in June, I would be thinking about booking now. |

Time travler
 |
This happens to be the busiest time right now to book for next summer, so therefore, the sooner, the better. Next week, I plan to book for an August cruise. Waiting to the last minute gets you the bottom of the barrel as far as cabins go. |

6 months out is a good time frame, gives you time to book and organize flights if needed and it's not too far in the future that you get tired of waiting.. Part of the fun is the planning, it's exciting talking about what to do where to go how much to spend. getting all your documents in order, passports ETC. I find that using a reputable cruise agent like Travelocity.com is a good way to book, they take care of all the details and send you your paper work a few weeks before the actual cruise. it is sooo easy with them. |

Its been my experience that you always get the very best price for early bookings about a year or so in advance. So search the various cruise lines for what you want and book now. You can pay an initial deposit of between $250 and $350 a person and then you can pay the balance in installments and just finish paying about 60 to 70 days before the cruise. |

You are getting bad information. Book now, the sooner you book the better choice of cabins you get. i have been booked for a month on a cruise that's not until Oct. 2009. Balcony rooms are the best if in your budget, nothing like the privacy and being able to watch the world go by. You can book on-line or use a travel agent, or just call the cruise line you want and let them help. Have fun! |

The sooner you book it the quicker you can get the cheaper rooms.
Unless you specifically want a balcony, don't bother with those, as you really don't spend much time in your room anyway. |

Sooner is always the better choice! You are more likely to have a better choice of cabins and better prices. Be sure to buy your trip insurance when you book! (My sister and I had to cancel a cruise we booked last spring that in fact is leaving this afternoon from Ft. Lauderdale, but had to cancel due to unanticipated surgery. We are getting back all but the amount we paid for the insurance itself, and will have the money for another cruise later on. Without that insurance we would have lost over $3000!) |

I would recommend checking out BookMe.com... You can compare all the major travel websites in 60 seconds, and only search for the ones you want. Keep checking, and eventually you find a GREAT deal! And they only search reputable/reliable sites, so you won't need to worry about anything.
