When you go on a cruise...?

what is the difference between the card of someone younger than 21 and someone that is 21 or older?

None, they look the same. If your go into the disco, or casino, or order alcohol you may need to show your regular ID.
Hope this helps, you can also look for more info at this great yahoo group.

Those cards actually contain a small amount of data about your including a picture and you date of birth. When you re-board the ship after visiting a port watch when they run the card through the check machine...your picture will show up on the screen. These are used primarily to account for all who leave the ship and to be sure the person who boards is actually the person who got off. So to actually answer your question there is no difference between the two cards but they will know your under 21.

I'm not sure but if this is for drinking purposes...don't you only have to be 18 when you are out to sea?

when I went on a Royal Carribean cruise about 6 years ago, the cards looked exactly the same, but they would punch a hole in the card of anyone who was a minor. The cards will work exactly the same way, but bartenders and the casino will know you're a minor based on that.

I've been on two Cruise's out of Athens, and we didn't have cards on either one, I'm not sure what you are talking about but it doesn't seem to be universal to all cruise lines.

On Royal Caribbean the cards look exactly alike. The way to tell is when you first recive the card if you are under 18 you get 2 hold punches on your card if you are under 21 you recieve one punch. This is how they know your age. At least on Royal Caribbean(the BEST cruise line EVER!!!)

Depends on the cruise line...some use different colors to differentiate between minors and adults. Others inbed a chip in the card...

Some cruise line allow 18 yr olds to drink with written permission from a parent or guardian...
I don't believe that any of the cruise ships allow anyone under 21 to gamble.
Whatever age you are you'll have your own card. (not sure about young kids). Which means if u charge any purchaes (soda, snacks...alcohol etc) someone will had to agree to pay for it when you first boarded the ship if you don't have your own money.
