Where can I get the lowest possible rate on a cruise? |

Cruise lines no longer allow travel agents to discount cruises. This means that whether you book your cabin directly with the cruise line or with a travel agent, the pricing should be the same on any given day. Prices are set by the cruise lines and are subject to change at any moment until a deposit is put on a cabin. Although the pricing will be the same no matter who you book with, that does not mean that travel agents cannot throw in extra perks. You should shop around and ask travel agents if they are willing to prepay the gratuities for you, or offer a shipboard credit, or if they have any other promos available. Travel agents often will offer perks to their clients to attract business when they cannot discount the cruise.
To reach a travel agent, try using your local phone book and calling an agent directly, or stopping by a local office. Are you a member of AAA? They offer cruise reservations. An excellent online agency is www.cruisesonly.com. Here, you can check prices on every major cruise line for all dates at one site. Or you can call them 24/7 at 1-800-CRUISES.

The cruise lines have set a policy where all travel agents must sell the cruise at the same price. However, there are ways around this. They can book you as part of a 'group' they can also offer incentives such as obc or free insurance etc. I usually go to www.cruisecompete.com You pick the cruise you want to go on and the travel agents e-mail you their best deals for it. |
