Where to begin looking for a cruise? |
Here's the story, me and my buddy are looking to go on a cruise for a week. We are 25, good looking, straight and single but have no clue where to start looking. Money isn't really an object but if we had to price it, we would probably want to keep it under $3,000 a piece.
Which cruise line will be best and are there certain destinations we should be looking for. |

If you want really easy chicks go on Carnival. Man the chicks on Carnival are aways wanting to get down. They're a hoe for sho'. Man they range from 18 to 29 then you have the cougers who are out on a "girls vacation" thoese chicks are like shooting fish in a dixecup. Yeah that easy Kyle. Also I would go Western Carribean but leave out of Flordia not PR or else it will be full of Ricans. |

the best cruise line is subjective. nearly all cruise lines are the same. what you want to look for is the amenities on the different ships in the fleet. and usually, the larger the ship, the more amenities it has.
Since you and your friend are young and single, you probably want a ship that has plenty of activities for you to enjoy as well as port calls that have fun stuff to do as well. A Carribean cruise is always a good choice for a first time cruiser, as it's always warm and sunny, with beach access and plenty of things to do in every price range.
Your best bet is to contact a travel agent who has a great deal of experience with cruise travel. They might be aware of cruise packages that you might not be able to find out about online. Most cruise lines will offer a couple of cruises a year just for singles. The destinations for these cruises may also offer more party options than normal cruises, where "family friendly" destinations are more common.
Some well known party ports are Key West and Cozumel. There's one Key West excursion that takes you to 6 bars in 4 hours. The price of the excursion includes 1 beer at each bar, and I'm assuming that you can buy more if you want more. Plus, the excursion provides travel, so you don't have to worry about driving yourself or making it back to the ship on time.
Cozumel is a major party stop, so if you decide to go to Cozumel, make sure you choose a cruise that will stay overnight (2 day port).
Your biggest decision will be your cabin assignment. If you care more about partying and less about seeing the ocean from your cabin, consider getting an inside cabin. They cost less (leaving more money for alcohol and port destinations). Ocean view rooms give you that view with a window, but for just a little more. Rooms with private balconies give you the best views, but can cost over $1000 for a week. |

Sounds like you're looking for something with nightlife and a good number of people in their 20s.
My recommendation would be ...
- Line: Carnival. They have by far the best nightlife. RCI is OK too, but sometimes their 7-day cruises are kinda dead after 10pm.
- Destination: Caribbean will have the best prices and a more nightlife-oriented crowd. If you're on the west coast, Mexico is good too.
In terms of cost, you should be able to get a pretty nice cabin for $1500 (though you could probably get something for $1000 or less) and then have a bunch of cash left over for drinks, the casino, etc.
Have fun! |

Based on what you've said, I would recommend Carnival.
You can either go directly to Carnival.com, contact a local travel agent or contact a Carnival Vacation Planner at 1.888.227.6482
I am not sure how long you are looking for. Most Carnival cruises are typically 7 nights. For a first timer, I would recommend either Eastern or Western Caribbean.
Edit - Christine B's link, although interesting has more to do with high-end luxury cruises. The mainline carriers: Carnival, Royal Caribbean, NCL, etc..are NOT going to give you things like a bridge tour. Royal Caribbean will very rarely give bridge tours to people who have cruised many many times (at least 25)
I had to become a crew member before I got a bridge tour. |

I know that you said you were straight, but just in case you didnt think there were trips that woudl suit you, and (judging from your hair)........
There is a good movie called Boat Trip that you should watch: http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808403236/info
Also, check out LGBT cruises, they offer something for everyone. Cruising (on a ship, that is) remains one of the most popular and growing forms of gay and lesbian vacations. If you’ve never been on one, or are afraid because of their reputations, one voyage will make a believer of their reputations, one voyage will make a believer out of you.
Have fun. |

Here is a great article from Town and Country about what to expect and demand on your next cruise. They even link off to cruise web sites! You have to think about what ammenities you can't live without or if you want to eat on your own schedule or at set times. |
