Which Carnival Ship Is The Best?

Hello

In june, my family and I (all 25 of us) will be taking a cruise to celebrate my grandma and grandma's 50th anniversery. We are still debating on which carnival ship to choose. Can you help us decide? Which carnival ship would be the best for our trip? Also this is my first time taking a cruise so is there anything we should know about carnival cruises? Thanks for your help!

PS we were thinking about the carnival valor. is this a good ship?

I was thinking eastern caribbean out of miami

Wow! Sounds like a great occasion and a great trip.

I think the first question is where you want to go and for how long, that'll narrow down the options.

I liked Valor. Nice, big ship with lots of options onboard. And I had WiFi in my cabin (not cheap, but useful).

More generally, Carnival has 22 ships, but they fall into five categories....

My #2 choice: CONQUEST class (Conquest, Freedom, Glory, Liberty, Valor): These are the biggest ships, with up to 3700 guests. These are great ships: dedicated teen club, awesome specialty steakhouse, several pools, lots of fun. Lots of cabins with balconies.

DESTINY class (Destiny, Triumph, Victory, Ecstasy): 3,500 guests. Good ships, but no steakhouse. Lots of cabins with balconies.

My #1 choice. SPIRIT class (Miracle, Pride, Spirit and Legend): My personal favorite. Slightly smaller than Conquest, and really beautifully designed. Also has the steakhouse. Lots of cabins with balconies. (But if you don't want your kids around Renaissance art reproductions of nude statues, avoid Carnival Pride.)

My #3 choice. FANTASY class - with "Evolutions of Fun" renovations: Inspiration and Imagination. The upgrades are awesome, adding a water park, an adults-only area, and a totally redesigned resort-style pool. (More info here: http://www.cruisesavvy.com/news/2008/01/carnival_fantasy_to_gain_aqua_park_serenty_area_and_more_this_fall)

FANTASY class - haven't yet been renovated. Still good ships, but not my preference.

The older ones (Holiday, Celebration): These are still good fun, but unless they sail out of your home town I wouldn't go out of your way for them.

*phew*! That was a lot of typing.

If you're still debating destination, etc., you might want to check out this article on "Choosing a Cruise" based on what matters most to you:

And actually, the general Savvy Guide might help, since it includes an "Introduction to Cruises":

Hope you have a great trip!

ive been on the Triamph and will be going on the miracle in may i really loved the Triamph it was a awesome ship. what an awesome trip for you have a blast!

I have been on the carnival miracle a few times and once i went with like 21 other people! The ship did a good job of keeping our group together (our rooms were in the same hallway and we were seated at tables in the dining room right next to eachother). It was good for all different age groups and entertained everyone. The shows every night are great but get there a bit early so all of you can sit next to eachother. If you plan to go on excursions book them early so you get the one you want. I think the carnival miracle travels mostly to the western caribbean like grand cayman, belize, costa maya, and cozomel but that could have changed. All of the carnival ships are probably just as good too!

all the carnival ships are really fun, there pretty much all the same but just go to different places.

but id probs say either the triumph, victory, glory, destiny

I went on the Valor. It was great. The other Carnival ships I have been on are the Pride, Fascination (about 10 years ago, when it was newer), and Imagination (also about 10 years ago, when it was newer.) I definitely had the most fun on the Valor! However, even though it was my favorite Carnival ship, I like a more unique itinerary, like the Southern Caribbean. The ship doing that itinerary now is the Destiny, which is a bit old for a cruise ship (for my liking at least.) In November 2008, the Victory (Carnival Valor's twin sister ship) will be replacing the Destiny. I would highly suggest doing a Southern Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Victory!!!

:) Have fun
