I've heard Crystal and Disney treat their crew really well.
I work for Carnival and for me it's good, but I have many friends onboard that don't feel the same way I do. Unfortunately what your job is onboard plays a big factor on what your overall experience will be working for any cruise line. |

If you are interested in working in the Travel Industry be sure you position yourself to make money instead of trading hours for dollars. The travel industry is the largest AND the fastest growing industry in the world. This is important because we will either make money, or spend money on a trend, based on where we position ourselves. If you would like more information on the company I work with let me know.

I don't know how much research you have done before looking to work for a cruise line but you should be aware that if you are talking about positions such as waiter, stateroom attendant or similar, then the money is not very good. My wife and I have been on several cruises, mainly with Celebrity (who are rated one of the best by Conde Nast magazine) and on each occasion, have been told that the monthly salary for such workers is $50 per month!. Now I know also, that in general, they get about $75 average a month tips but it's still not a lot of money. Obviously, accommodation and meals are free but they can spend nine months on board without leave. Perhaps it's a life you fancy and certainly lots seem happy with the job but do your homework first. |

A British company. Americans pay little. A bartender is paid $800 a month...i.e. about £400. Then again, you don't pay rent/food/cleaning/bus fares etc and you do get tips.
Apparently some british cos pay bartenders about 2k a month but some don't pay for your travel to and from the ship. |

I worked for the Banana Boat Company but not only did they say I was bent they also hinted I was a bit fruity so I left. Not a Cruise Company to work for I'm afraid. |

None!
Your are over worked.
Underpaid.
Disrespected.
If you are from a country that really needs to live this kind of life then great. Go for it. If you have options, I think you should choose Option # 2. |
