Which cruise line is it where you don't have to eat with strangers? |
I've done the royal caribbean and the carnival lines before but this time around i'd like to choose to eat with only the person i'm traveling with and not be forced into awkward conversation with complete strangers. There's a commercial on the tube that advertises this, but which is it? Thanks :) |

Princess cruise. They offer "any time dinning" which give you a choice of dinning on your own. You can choose to sit by yourself and not dinning with anyone else. However, you will have to wait for your table (especially at busy dinning time). If you don't mind to wait, "any time dinning" option is the way to go. |

I just got back from a Norwegian Freestyle cruise and I only ate with my family and friends. Lines were short and service quick and friendly. The food was amazing and the restaurants were varied and beautiful. |

Norwegian Cruise lines is a good one. You can eat when and where you want. You have many options to choose from. You can eat at a more formal restaurant or you can go more casual in the main dining rooms. |

Many cruiselines have the option. Holland does the anytime dining as well as Princess and NCL (which I suggest you avoid at all cost).
You don't have to eat in the dining room on any ship though. You can always request a table for 2 or eat at one of the numerous other places. Most cruise lines have something like 10 other places to eat on board--at least 3 of those will be open at the time you want to eat dinner.
The specialty restaurants cost extra but they do not seat you with others and have numerous tables for 2. You can also order room service.
However you just have to talk to the Maitre D. I have been seated at tables for 4, 6 and 8 on cruises before. I prefer tables of 8 and greatly enjoy my tablemates. If you talk to the Maitre D on the first night and especially if you are not picky on which dining room and which time you eat dinner, he is usually able to find you a table for 2. I have gotten the Matire D to switch me several times when I was accidentally put on the Early Dining (my husband and I usually eat between 8-9 and especially on a cruise I don't want to come back early from a port of call just to eat). |
