Which cruise line/ship should I choose?

My husband and I are booking a cruise for August 2009 and I wanted to find a cruise ship that has pretty much everything! We are big kids, water rides, vollyball, movies etc. I know Carnival's ships have water rides, but I am also hearing from people who cruise alot that Royal Carribean is the cruise line to go with. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which cruise line or cruise ship we should book? Thank you in advance!!!
Additional Details
Thank you for taking the time to give me your advice! I really appriciate it. God Bless.

sounds like you might like royal carribean cruise line.

but it depends on what itinerary you might like , what type of vacation you are looking for. a relaxing time and or many many activities to fill your days. i would suggest looking at cruisecritic.com

and do some reading on what others have experienced. You might have a better idea then, of what you like and want on your vacation.

as long as it's a MEGA liner you will be safe. Don't pick a Carnival ship that ends in the sound "shun" like imagination, fascination, etc.
Also you will want a Western Itinerary as opposed to E or S Caribbean...it's better for the "kid" types.... Eastern Caribbean is good for little old ladies who want to buy gold and linens in store after store. If you buy thru our coop, we share the 14% commission with you. I am assuming you want Caribbean, because you can't really do the water ride thing in Alaska or Europe. But you also should consider your discounts if your husband was ever in the military, etc.

Royal Caribbean all the way it is so amazing and has a lot of activities

wow
you are right about Royal Carribbean, Voyager of the Seas, Enjoy one-of-a-kind features like an ice-skating rink, the Royal Promenade and a rock-climbing wall just for starters. http://cruiseandtrips.globaltravel.com/ got very good deals on every cruise line.

Most of your mass market lines are pretty similar in quality. the most important thing for you guys if you want the newest toys on the ship is to make sure you book on one of the newer ships. CCL has the water slides and large outdoor movie theater. RCCL has the surfing simulators and rock climbing walls and even ice skating.Even the new NCl ships have some of the stuff. Food, service amenities are pretty similar on all 3 lines.RCCL and NCL may be very slightly more upscale but not by much. That doesn't mean that CCL's quality isn't as good, it's just that it's a bit more casual.

Definitely Royal Caribbean! Go with the newer, larger ships there is so much to do onboard. The rock climbing is awesome and so is the Flowrider and ice skating, inline skating, mini golf, etc. Don't miss out on Quest. It is an adult activity onboard that is soooo much fun. You won't be let down with Royal Caribbean.

It all depends on what you want to do on board the ship and where you want to visit and one more thing what you want to pay.
For cheaper prices we recommend Carnival. They do have lots to do on the newer and the recently renovated ships. Royal Caribbean is a little more priced but they do have lots to do.
We will be glad to discuss any of your options with you one on one. You can find our phone number at our web site

Definitely go for the newer ships. Carnival's new ships have water slides and movie screens on them. Royal Caribbean has mini golf, a surfing thing, and rock climbing wall. Carnival is usually cheaper. Both have great food and amenities!

I think the first decision is where do you want to cruise to? My favorite is the Caribbean, but you might get bad weather in the fall in which case many people chose to go to Alaska. Caribbean cruises from Miami and Alaska cruises from Seattle/Vancouver may take more than a day to get get from one port to another. These days which are spent on board are called "days at sea". If you cruise has a couple (or more) days at sea it is very important that your ship has the activities that you will enjoy. However, if you are going to be at a different port everyday you are less likely to take advantage of a wave pool when you've just spent the day on a jet ski.

Another thing to consider is your personality and what you can afford. If you absolutely hate to dress up you should probably go with Norwegian Cruise Line. They have something called "freestyle cruising" which means you can wear what you want and eat what you want. My experience is that is easy to go from "freestyle" to "traditional" but not the otherway around. If you like to dress up - like when you go to a nice restaurant or on formal evenings like a wedding, you should avoid "freestyle" cruising.

Carnival is a bit more affordable, therefore it attracks a younger crowd - maybe more "blue-collar" whereas Royal Caribbean is more expensive and the crowd is more mature and maybe more "white-collar".

Newer ships are neat. They're bigger, they have more stuff and they feel new. If it's your first cruise, you may not notice anything different except what you see on other ships at port.
