I have been on many cruises but I rarely hear the ship's horn because its usually blown only when the ship is about to leave port and then only for a few blasts. If you are not up on deck and/or paying attention you will miss most of the sound. The horn is best heard if you are on the top deck and up front.
Now there was one cruise that we went on to the Baltic on Celebrity Cruise line's ship, the Constellation. We stopped in Warnemunde, Germany and when we were about to depart that evening about 9:00 PM the town's people came out to see the two cruise ships leave and the ships blew their horns multiple times to the cheers of the crowd. The captains of the two ships were competing, along with the horn for the harbor master. The Constellations horn was definitely louder and longer and that was MY favorite experience with ship's horns. I loved it. |

Definitely the Disney ships because it plays "When You Wish Upon A Star". It just makes the trip that much more magical and fun for everyone! |
