Which end of a cruise ship is better to stay on?

I know the best is the middle of the ship, but that is not an option. I can either be all the way toward the back (maybe 6-10 cabins from end) or all the way in front (maybe 8-10 cabins from front). It's a large ship - Royal Caribbean's Navigator. Also, it's a balcony room on deck 6 (out of 15). Any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Midship is best, but I think either end would be about the same. Forward would be quieter, unless you are on a higher deck. There could be some engine vibration aft, but not so much the higher you are.
I wouldn't worry about the motion of the ocean since the ship is large. Also, they have stabilizers to minimize motion.

I've never stayed in the front - only in the middle and in the back. When we were in the back we got some slight engine noise that wasn't much of a problem. The only major disadvantage was hearing the anchor on the mornings we docked at port. Very early in the morning for those of us that were out late at night. Like 7am ish. But we were all the way in the back close to the bottom. So if you have a balcony room, you'll be up higher and this probably won't be a concern.

We went on our first cruise and stayed toward the front of the ship and had a blast. Also, you should check to see if you can get a room on the port side. Ours wasn't but the view of the ocean was still beautiful

i would say front/
have a good cruise.

Stern end, [back of the boat] bows rise and fall. only disadvantage, you may get some engine noise when trying to sleep. Try a few bevys
before hitting the sack. [Ex fisherman]

I get really sea sick and had no choice but to stay in the front of the ship on my last cruise which worried me. It wasnt bad at all. I had stayed in a middle of the ships cabin on my first cruise and there was very little movement if any. I was pleasantly surprised that the boat felt pretty steady while i was in my cabin EXCEPT for one night we had to go through a small storm but then it didnt matter where your cabin was the boat rocked.
The front of the ship gets less engine noise. I would get a cabin there again

I tend to get sea sick, and we had a cabin towards the end of the ship. It never affected me. But being at the front of the ship I could feel it move a whole lot more. So I'd say back, but thats just me.

I just got back from a cruise and we stayed on deck 6 about 6 cabins from the end (coincidence, maybe) and we had no problems with rocking or noise...our boat was 115,000 gross tons. We were however right above the piano bar, but I barely heard the music and it was relaxing anyway. So, another thing to think about is what is above, below or on both sides of your room...elevators, stairs, etc...good luck!

Paladin
The Front of the vessel (Bow) less engine noise. as regards of movement there's no difference between Bow or stern.

Camille
Front. Some people says it rocks a little more, but u can't tell. Less noisy then the back.
