Nearly 99% of the mass market ships are larger than the Titanic.. On December 12, 2009 the Oaises of the Seas will begin her maiden voyage. She is over 4 times the size of the Titanic... the first ship to be bigger than the Titanic was the SS Impererator in 1913.. only a year after the Titanic sank her record was beaten... Some ferries are larger than the Titanic today... The MV Color Fantasy and her sister the Color Magic are nearly twice the size of the Titanic- and theyre just car ferries. |

SOME cruise ships are bigger than the Titanic. It annoys me when they say 'it's 4 times the size of the Titanic...' because Titanic was built nearly one hundred years ago, with limited machinery and workers bare hands....it's not fair to compare them. I always check the length of the ship online when they claim it's bigger, and sometimes find it's not.
I can't recall the name of the ship, but they claimed it was 'four times the size' of the Titanic. I checked, and it was infact shorter. It was highter/taller than the Tianic, but not longer. |

Anyways, Nearly every 'modern sized ' cruise ship going on 2-5 days to the Bahamas are larger that the Titanic was.
When the Titanic sailed she was giant weighting in at 46,000 tons. Today, that is small. Freedom of the seas (Royal Caribbean) is alot bigger:D |

Modern cruise ships.
Titanic was 40,000 tons. A typical modern 1700+ guest cruiser is about 70-90,000 tons.
Larger ones like Golden Princess are 109,000tons and the really big new ones are over 150,000 tons! |

Freedom of the seas from royal caribbean is way bigger. i love the ship...you have a hard time leaving the ship when it is time to get off. it is amazing.
there is also a new class of ships from royal caribbean
