Which room (part of ship and deck) should I chosse for a Caribbea cruise?

I am going to take a balcony room. Is it really better to be on a high deck? Is it important to avoid being under the dining room or any other area of the ship?
Additional Details
--- its the Liberty of the Seas western Caribbean cruise (on Royal Caribbean). Its a new boat.

The lower and closer to center of the ship, the less movement. However you really won't notice it too much unless you are at the very front or the very back. Typically, the higher the deck, the higher price you pay, howerver the rooms and service will be identical regardless of the deck or the price of the room. You will not want to be under the gallery or the late night disco if you like to sleep. Also, being right under the jogging track or pool area can be a bit noisy in the morning.

There ship are so big and so stable that it reallly doesnt matter

Balconies are the best. You can have breakfast with the sunrise.
Or even dinner with the sunset at least once.
Being on a higher deck means you will feel the sway of the boat sometimes in rough seas. Lower down you will not feel it as much.
Being on a higher deck means you can see a lot more of the ports you are in.
I haven't heard from anyone about being on a bad area of the ship.
If you get an interior room with no windows it is dark. All the time.
We have never had a bad room yet.

RCL has BIG ships....doesn't much matter where you are. BUT normally on regular sized ships...mid ship is best..the middle of the middle. ITs the least amount of movement.
Good luck, I LOVE cruising

Whats the point in taking a balcony you will be out on deck most of the time !
We had a cruise to the carribean last december and took a high deck but no matter where u r on a cruise it is fab anyway !
If u r a bad sailor they reccomend u take a deck near the centre above the medical centre its the most stable part of the ship !
Have a fab cruise x

I have been on many cruises and I always go for the highest deck that I can get/afford. Some say that mid ship and not too high will give a smoother ride. But, the way ships are built these days with automatic stabilizers, there is very little motion anyway. If you want to be closer to the sound of the ocean while cruising, take a lower deck. I can usually hear the sea pretty good up high also.

I also pick my cabins close to, but not in the elevator bay areas because then you get the noise of people coming and going day and evening. On the ships I have been on the dining rooms have not been a noise problem because of the hours they are used. Neither have been the night clubs and spas. If the ship has a walking/running track about deck 7, I would get well above that so that you don't get noise from early morning workouts. If you are a non-smoker, take a cabin up front (fore) so you don't get smoke from cabins ahead of you.

MID-SHIP IS THE BEST (LESS MOVEMENT)... SOMEWHERE AROUND THE 11TH DECK IS BEST (BETTER VIEW)... HAVE FUN AND DON'T EAT TOO MUCH!!! I'M GOING ON MY CRUISE IN NOVEMBER... ENJOY!!!

jdomanico
It depends on what you are looking for. If you are concerned about movement, pick a cabin as low as possible (with a balcony) nearest the center of the ship. Think of the ship as rocking back and forth left and right on it's center point.

If you are looking for class, then you should go higher up. Cabins become much more elegant as you move to the higher decks. The suites and owner cabins are all higher. Also cabins that face the bow or stern will be a bit better than the average, again higher the better.

Hibee
Look at the route and pick the side of the ship which will face land the most.

The higher the cabin, the bigger the cabin, the dearer the fare. Below the restaurant dosn't matter unless you intend to sleep while others eat.

For the best view, take the 10th deck. That is the highest deck on Liberty of the Seas. I personally preferr the front of the ship as you can watch the bridge crew dock the ship.

I will be leaving on Friday from NJ on Explorer of the Seas for 9 nights. ;)

Mid ship and lower decks provide the most comfortable trip experience. Higher decks cost more -- ask for upgrades and keep watch on how the ship is selling and watch for drop in prices and keep in contact with travel agent to request the above. To avoid overhead and underneath noise --avoid public areas. Get cruise line books and research ships on line and thru cruisecritic.com.
Sometimes you can book "guaranteed" and your cabin is assigned according to availability. Talk to a travel agent and ask lots of questions -- make a list!!
Good luck and enjoy your cruise!

It would help to know which ship/cruise line.

fire_side_2003
I have cruised many times the higher the deck the better, Just stay away from the elevators.

Who cares, I'd be in the spa the whole time, why would you spend all that money to remain in your cabin?
