Why are these cruise ships suddenly so dangerous?

They aren't. The people you hear about falling from the ship are either drunk or suicidal, or both. You have no more chance of an accident on a cruise ship than you do at home, providing you don't get wasted and do something stupid.

They're not really that dangerous, and nothing has changed. It's just the news and the way they cover stories.

That story about the lady falling off Norwegian Spirit (apparently she decided to visit her neighbors by climbing the balconies ) caught the media's attention, then they started covering any story about someone falling ill while on vacation.

Think about it: millions and millions of people go on a cruise each year. Each day, around the world, people die of random stuff (heart attacks, weird desire to go climbing in dangerous places, etc.). Sometimes those people are on cruise ships.

There's a huge amount of regulation aboard cruise ships, and frankly they're a lot safer than wandering around your typical American town.

the worst thing on cruises is that passengers just don't wash their hands. There is a gel at the entrance of every cafe/restaurant where passengers should gel their hands, but some filthy s*ds don't and that's when you get bugs.......wash YOUR HANDS PLEASE

When ever you hear of someone "falling in to the Ocean" from a cruise, they can't just fall in. They have to climb up and over to fall in. I would guess alcohol is behind it 99% of the time. Now people do die on cruises, mostly form a heart attack or other medical problems that would happen wether they were on a cruise or not. With more then 3,000 people on each cruise(average), some deaths will occur. Some also do get sick from a virus, but we get sick from viruses all the time without getting on a ship, but being on a confined area(the ship), does up the chances of you getting a virus. I myself have had over 100 days of cruising, and so far never got sick, except in Mexico, drinking Mexican water, not cruise ship water. So don't worry.
