Why is Royal Caribbean cruises so expensive?

We are a family of 7 (6 adults and 1child) . We have priced a Royal Caribbean cruise for later this year and the travel specialist for royal caribbean told us it would be close to $800 for 4 people each in an inside room. Carnival only charges about $515 for 3 people in a room for a 7-night cruise. Why so expensive with Royal Caribbean?

Royal Caribbean has better quality. It also depends on the port you are leaving from and what type of room and where it is located on the ship, and what ship you are on.

The price for the 1st and 2nd guest should be more, and the 3rd and 4th guest will be cheaper, sharing 1 room.

Royal Caribbean is a much MUCH higher class cruiseline than Carnival. Carnival is the budget cruise line, and has not nearly as much as Royal Caribbean has to offer. Royal Caribbean has a rockwall, ice skating rink, in line skating, mini gold and so much more than carnival does not. Royal Caribbean has much nicer crew members who are also a lot more helpful and caring than those on carnival. royal caribbean is a more expensive cruise line simply because it has way more class and has a lot more to offer. Definitely go with Royal caribbean unless you're willing to settle for an average cruise. If you'd like a spectacular cruise experience, royal caribbean is the cruise line to take. You get what you pay for on cruises and i'd choose Royal over carnival any day.

hope this helps!

well, it depends on the port they sail off on. See, the port that they depart on, they have to pay a lot. A small port, like san francisco, will make the price go up. Also, it depends on the quality. Royal caribean is more high class. while carnival is just cheep. also, it might depend on the date. Most cruises make their prices cheeper, when school starts. during the end of august, or beginning of september.

Carnival is just one of the cheapest ships going. They really arent a good comparison to Royal Caribbean. RC is more upscale, a little older crowd, etc. Carnival is younger people, more neon and brass glitz if you know what I mean. Although I liked Carnival, RC is more upscale for sure. Compare RC to something like Norweigan instead, thats a better comparison.

If you call RCCL direct they will NOT offer you the best cruise fare. You need to check around and find the best deal.
