With this swine flu outbreak, would it be safe to go on a cruise to the caribbean?

I wanted to go on a cruise to the caribbean in June, should I still go or make other plans?

I would go in a heartbeat. The ships have hand sanitizers all over the place, so just use them and have a good time. This flu thing is way overblown. The only place I would avoid right now is Mexico.

Yes it is safe. The government is taking extra precautions to make sure the Swine Flu isn't spread much more. I am going on a cruise myself in July, and I am not the least bit worried. We were supposed to be stopping in Cozumel, Mexico, bu they re- routed the cruise ship to a different island. So I am not worried at all, and cannot wait to go. Not to mention the Mexican authorities are already saying the number of confirmed cases are staring to level off, but of course that isn't the top story on the news. The media is only interested in sensational news, and how much worse it can get.

I know how you feel, I am getting married in 2 weeks, and going on a 2 week honeymoon, 1 week of which is a western caribbean cruise. I was and still am a little freaked out, but we really cannot let this thing control our lives too much. Take extra precautions, don't shake hands with people, and make sure to wash your hands extra and take hand santizer with you everywhere and use it more frequently. Just try to be more careful, but still have fun. This is what I am trying to tell myself. Over 36,000 people die in the US each year due to the regular flu, so so far, this really isn't THAT bad, it;s just awful to have the flu.

good luck & have fun!
