I am from Russia and it is very easy to live in -50F. In Russia, the weather is very dry and so in the winter, when it feels like -50, it isn't as bad as one thinks. In America, people are more used to the humidity and when it is cold, it makes the cold penetrating and you feel it in your bones. In Russia, you layer yourself and make sure you are comfortable.
1. Have either a fur coat or nice puff jacket. You can buy:
Шуба - Fur Coat
Дублёнка - Fur on the inside and leather on the outside
and those 2 are very Russian and very warm
or you can buy a puff coat which also keeps you very warm.
2. Layer yourself. You need to have many layers, like long underwear and you can use a couple of them and then your pants. it is recommended that you have a nice fleece or sweater that has a neck that extends up your neck so your neck/throat are protected. You should get warm wool socks, nice boots that have fur on the inside and gloves, plus have a hat. You usually see Russians with the traditional fur hats, but a nice stocking cap or anything else. The most important thing is to keep your head warm and your ears covered.
3. While it might be a bit cold on the outside, the Russian government provides very inexpensive heat to citizens and so once you get inside, you will be ready to remove all of your layers, besides your main outfit, because it is so warm.
Another good way to think about it is that if you do a sport, like ice skating, snowboarding, skiing or any other winter activity, you will get very warm and not feel the cold. I like to go to the ponds and ice skate because it is a good workout and I don't even notice the cold.
Again, it seems intimidating because it is -50 but if you layer yourslf and wear the right clothes, you will not feel the cold. |

One of only area in Russia where this temperature is common is Yakutia or Sakha Republic. Most housing is built very well for insulate heat from inside. I know someone there who simply used space heaters, not know how many though, he lives in apartment block in Mirny, Yakutia. |

if a climate is dry, a frost is carried far easier, for example, I live on Ural and when for us frost -35 With that it also same what in Yakutii -50 |

Once you under 32F the cold does become "dry" cold, which is easily manageable with fur coats, double pants and good boots.
-50F is really hard to live in. That is actually -45.5C and only few places in Russia do have a freezing temperature like that.
The best cold is when the temperature is -22F (-30C).
Then the cold does become a supper cold and that is much - much more fun.
Like do not spit, do not relieve you self outside etc, etc. |

Usually in such areas small humidity and if there is no wind - temperature is possible to transfer easily |

I spent enough time in Alaska that -50 isn't that big a deal if you've got the right clothing and equipment. Two crucial hints if you'll be spending the night outdoors:
1) Sleep with your boots inside the sleeping bag, and most important,
2) "Water the tundra" before you crawl into the sleeping bag, rather than have an urgent need in the middle of the night. |
