Don't come here again if you think it's expensive and stay home if you don't want to spend money.
Haha, oh wow, you call up for a boycott? Who do you think you are, a Russian factory worker in the beginning of the 20th century?
Take up arms and boycott Turkish resorts comrades!
Look what you've done, you ruined our economy. |

Well that happens everywhere. Some people try to rip off tourists. But you should also consider that prices increased significantly last year. |

If you don't like it, that's your own problem...We don't mind...
Go to Uganda or Groenland, maybe you will find what you're looking for there...
You may also appreciate some holidays in Bagdad or Kandahar...Local unhabitants love taking care of tourists...You will never forget their hospitality... |

gel ye iç, sonra da laf at, oldu mu şimdi?
well, probably you couldnt find the right places to shop or eat. In turkey there are "allways", i assure you, cheap and good shops and restaurants. Also keep in öind that, what Turkish people earn and what tourists (e.g. Brits) earn is not the same, so are not the prices for both. It is about economy.
You probably have never been to Caribbean or Latin America. They would triple all the prices for toursits. In Cuba, they even have a currency only for tourists that you have to use. So, this is how this world is. In europe, you cnats find a better and cheaper holiday than you find in Turkey. |

in a strange land always ask for the cost before you sit somewehere.
İn Eygpt in a 5 star hotel a shet beer costs 30 Eygptian pounds but when you get the bill it s plus %12 percent service charge. So they collect tax.Only government collect taxes.
What about that?
Please dont go sit in a bar who catch the flies and than complain about the double prices. There are few naives like you are.But i m sorry for what happened.Where did you go? |

No its same to its own citisen ,
Possibly some opportionist you been faced and some shiny place, or expensive rent - tax, on quick profit, would do same anyone. Dont show youre in need of their goods.
Just check average public places, follow folks, behave confidnet as knowing well of all. And make bargain, so reasonable prices you will find ,even one Lira stores.
Same slippers 25 lira in Migros markets is only 5 Lira at Üsküdar . |

i agree that things are more expensive, but look what its like in the UK now, hardly a comparison. even if the prices go up its still a fantsatic country to visit. beautifull places and the weather is always great.i wont be boycotting |

You are mistaken, Sir...
Price have rised up a lot, that's true...But just keep in mind that Turkey's economy is growing extremely fast...If you look at real estate prices and incomes which now get close to the european ones, then it's just normal that prices also look more similar to european prices.
10 years ago, there was a huge dfference, it's true...But Turkey's economy grows up every year at least 7%, meanwhile UE countries's economy grows up around 1.5 % each year...So do the math...
By the way, if you see a store which really practices double-standard prices for tourists, that's just ILLEGAL...So you have the right to inform the authorities about it, and the store owner will be condemned to pay a huge fine which would seriously ruin all his benefits..
And when you mention the word "boycot", I wonder if you are not, actually, trolling ?...Where are you from exactly ? What's your real purpose?...
PS ; I agree with Adventurous : How would you explain that internet cafés ,in certain touristic places in the Caraibbean, charge you up to $8 an hour ? $8 for an hour of internet !!! So who are the robbers ?...Maybe I should invest in an internet café, with 30 PC, open 24/7, and I will get rich in a couple of months. |

You can find both expensive and inexpensive but you are responsible for the money you pay. I mean when you go to eat/drink/buy sth you ask how much it is and if you think it is expensive you pass. If you don't then you have yourself to blame. I live in a highly touristic area and pay the same, just like every tourist. So, whenever I travel I check the prices and I am not shy to stay and get ripped*** off.
***Some times it really is a rip off. Other times it is just expensive for me to afford. Like you cannot go to a fancy bar/restaurant/boutique and expect to pay the same as a plain bar/taverna/shop. The service/quality is not the same.
Of course there are some who professionally rip people off but you and everyone should warn people against them with proof to appropriate authority. |

Last year I served in Kuşadası as a gendarme and couldnt believe the prices myself. I kept eating in Burger King as a result. Even the coffees of Starbucks looked reasonable. Actually if you know where to eat in there you'll be fine. And no I, as a Turk, was ripped of as well. Istanbul looked much cheaper to me when I got back from the army.
Oh and food was nothing special as well. |
