Any suggestions for a holiday? |
Well we are 18/19 and want to go on holiday next summer. Though a couple of us drive we can't hire cars.
4 of us went to Berlin (which i loved) last june while the other 6 went to Bulgaria. We want somewhere that will suit everyone. A beach but also culture. We have a budget of about £300 each but are based in Scotland so more expensive to get from. We have been looking at places like Greece but also Croatia, Slovenia etc.
Any Suggestions? Thanks in Advance. |

Slovenia is indeed worth for checking out, especially in late July the southern part of the country has a warm weather every day (over +30C)! I spent a fabulous week in Slovenia in 2007 staying in the warmth of the Adriatic coastline (Portoroz), but also visited the great mountainous area in Bled as well as the pittoresque capital Ljubljana. Although Slovenia is relatively cheap, its landscapes and culture are not! A real hidden gem people don't know much about! And, what best, it is a small enough country so that you can actually explore Croatia at the same time! |

Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal is worth your consideration.

This is a very snazzy place to go to. It has a beautiful marina with bars, a large variety of restaurants and cafes overlooking the Arade river and the sea!
The beach is spectacular and conveniently located and with lots going on!
You are near Portimão which is also lively and attractive (specially by the Riverside!).
The night atmosphere is great with quiet as well as vibrant places.

From Praia da Rocha you can do day coach trips/tours to scenic Monchique, historical Silves, popular Lagos and extreme Sagres: to get a good start with Portugal and the Algarve.
You’ll probably also visit one of water parks (http://www.slidesplash.com/index.php?lang=en ) and Zoomarine. http://www.zoomarine.com/ {No need for a car for these – you are picked up near one of the hotels at Praia da Rocha}
I would be surprised if you were disappointed!
Take care with the strong sun in the Summer! |

Ever consider Turkey? There are really nice beaches in the south and it's quite cheap. You could look up Antalya (Kemer, Olimpos), Marmaris, Bodrum or even Cesme (which is in the west, in Izmir). |
