Probably i'm a bit biased with my first sugestion but Krakow is really beautiful and has it's own magical character. You can find all you may need - little coffe shops and restaurants, castle, spirit of history, dragons... but in case you are not interested Prague would be a good choice too. As long as you take some time to go of the usual tourist tracks you can find some mnagical places there that make you feel as if you went back in time.

Whatever you choose - have a good fun!

Budapest, stay in Pest. Great walking city, great museums, restaurants and entertainment. The thermal baths are the best. Vienna is not in eastern europe by the way.

Macedonia, fun and cheap

Try Kiev. It's a beautiful city and caters for all budgets. I would also suggest (depending on how different you want to be), Minsk in Belarus, although you would need a visa and it might be quite tricky unless you can read Cyrillic but it's very pretty and the people are amazingly friendly.
