Don't know about the friendliest but statistically they are the ones that moan the most.
I've been to Germany LOADS of times and they are pretty friendly but maybe that's coz they are all drunk! lol they certainly like to drink a lot of beer! My gran was German and could drink anyone under the table. |

travelled through Germany 14 years ago on way to Italy for holiday and to meet up with family..stopped at several guest houses on way and in Bavaria i met some wonderful people at a small village in the guest house who were wonderfully nice to me......i have been back every year to that place sometimes 3 times a year and now i have an Austrian girlfriend of almost 4 years so we drive up from her place ...they are wonderfull people but i think nice people are everywhere......i am English and fly every month to Austria ,a fantastic country and in about 6 years we will build a house on a hillside facing the evening sunshine.......WOW |

I've lived in France, Germany, Switzerland and Finland and visited a load of other European countries and I would say Germans are definitely the most fun and most willing to let their hair down...Swiss people are fantastic though.....The Finnish are definitely the most unfriendly. |

Thanks for the compliment. However I have been to many other European countries (England, France, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Russia, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria and Switzerland) and I haven't noticed anywhere that people were less friendly than in my home country Germany, and I have to admit that there are also many quite rude people in Germany (I have often experienced rudeness in my life). When I was in England the first time I was 12 years old and hardly spoke English, I had an English course there and lived in a host family, and I remember all people I met as friendly and very patient with my limited knowledge of English then, and I perceived them as more friendly than Germans on average. My mother who has studied in England for a semester says the same. But then again I know there are also rude Englishmen and it was my luck not to meet them there.
But otherwise I haven't observed big differences in friendliness between the different countries. |

I travelled to most of Europe until I discovered Italy. Their friendliness pales the others into the distance. |

I think that Norwegians and Danes are by far the friendliest and the Dutch are friendly as well. Most Germans I've met have been rude. |
