Are Japanese cars popular in Turkey?

They are very popular in America or Australia. When i was in Turkey marketing of Japanese cars wasn't very prominent. From what I could see 2 years staying , seems everywhere i looked, there was a Renault, a Fiat, a Mercedes, a BMW, etc. However, if i go to Turkey today, am i as likely to see a Toyota, Honda, Suburu, or Hyundai? as i am to see one of the old stand-bys. Do Turks think Is European-American cars better then Japanese ones?
Additional Details
|||smile> i typed hyundai because Hyundai has heavy investments from Toyota and others

Yeah they are popular..Actually, rich people in Turkey prefer American and European cars (u know they are more lux) etc...But most of people who earn some money prefer old model Japanese cars..For example my father wants a Honda (but a new model of it).It is his dream car :-) But we have a Fiat now.Because it was cheaper than Honda.

I like Honda.

German cars and Saab, Volvo have an image as safe cars. Toyota and Hyundai are more like middle class cars. If you want an upper class, you don't buy them.

I like the design of small French cars. Pity, though. I am personally protesting France for limiting free speech and not buying French products.

Renault and Fiat are better placed in the market because of local production and joint production, that they did even before Toyota plant came here.

Such are my humble observations.

Hi Akira,

In my opinion, first factor is price and then production place.

I have a Renault and it is produced in Turkiye. When I compare with Japanese cars, it is more cheap.

I like Suburu, but it is so expensive because there is a big tax that for cars.

I think Japanese cars are better but to show off American and European cars are better.

I like Italian cars most.
Honda is also a good car for me.

Roland
it's about spare parts and service
Fiat & Renault are widely serviced throughout all Turkey
.. and the second hand price of the Japanese cars are quite low, so people prefer the ones produced in Turkey.

Toyota is OK but Honda is kinda tricky

Toyota and Hyundai have production facilities in turkey. Yes, I think japanese cars are as popular as european ones.

Qu'est ce que tu pense?

Yes, and they also like French cars like Renault and Peugeot. Citroen, another French car, is also becoming very popular for the younger generations.
