I'm an American with close family living in London and have gone there at least once a year ever since I was a baby (I was actually born there), and have never had anyone treat me rudely or unkindly.
London is a hustling, bustling, slightly chaotic and very socioeconomically diverse city, and the people there aren't as prone to making small talk or eye contact as Americans are, but that doesn't mean they're unfriendly. It's just not a very gregarious city. Many are very opposed to the Bush government, and will smack talk about the Yanks, but I've never felt like it was personal.
Be polite: always stand on the right side of the escalator, don't take up the pavement (sidewalk) with your friends so that people have to maneuver around you, and don't speak too loudly. Adapt to their culture rather than expecting them to cater to yours - for example accept that you don't get free refills on sodas or coffee at most places and rooms at hotels are often tiny in comparison to ones in the US and not as well heated- and just go with the flow. It's cold and damp and gets dark early in December, but the city is magical then. It's all decorated up for Christmas & there are cool things going on. Pick up a Time Out London magazine when you get there to find out what's going on during your stay.
I don't think many Americans would encounter problems in London, and if that's you in the avatar I definitely think you'll be fine because you're gorgeous. You'll probably just get hit on. : ) British boys can be very charming when they fancy a girl. Trust me, I speak from experience.
Have an awesome trip! |

The first two must have been to a bad neighborhood
of London.
From what I have been told by many people that have
been there, they are friendly.

Is very pricey, is like the most expensive place. UK are very friendly and close tie with U.S. after they speak in English. |
