No, however Norway is part of the wider European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, though not members, have similar rights. This means for example that citizens of both countires can freely move and live in the EU. Government representatives of both Switzerland and Norway participate in certain discussions of the European Council in Brussels.
Two links below list EEA countries and explain a little more about the EEA. |

NO, NO and again NO! And if it is up to the people in our two countries, we never will be members either. . Both countries have voted on this serious matter twice. And being a modern democracy, our government has to listen to the people as they work for us,and not the other way around - as they seem to think.. It is no big secret that the present Norwegian parliament (consisting of three parties) wants a EU membership. But they are in charge for 4 years only, and will for sure be kicked out of office if they try. There is not a single Norwegian who believes that the EU wants us for the sake of our blue eyes. Our enormous oil based bank account is more interesting. We want to decide how to use that money ourselves. And large sums go to food programs. housing and necessary equipment in developing countries every year.We want to help whereever help is needed. |

No Switzerland is a neutral country and Norway too, both of them are not part of the EU. Norway's reason is the problem of thei fishery because they does not agree with the rules and laws of EU upon fishery and Switzerland has been a neutral country forever.

My little nation has decided (as yet) not to join the EU, as be do not like to reveal the Banking Secrets and we don't like other nations bossing us around. Norway isn't in the Union either. Switzerland rejected the idea of joining in 1991.
Hope this has helped,
