"Nationalistic Zeal" sounds like a horse I wouldn't bet on at the track.

I'm a patriotic person, but every nation has parts of its history, and even parts of its current state of affairs, that it can't be proud of. Whatever a Turk might answer to this challenge, there will always be caveats.

You might as well ask if the US is proud of OJ Simpson.

Yes, Ottoman Empire was big and strong.I'm proud of it..But I wish they cared less about religion and worked more on technology.
