It's rather unnecessary to suggest how pathetic is to reveal directly or indirectly personal data, information that has been solely disclosed to you or even harass in public or private people that only express their opinion. No matter what.

The Greek section is not getting any smarter and it is neither insightful nor helpful to anyone. It is recycling and consuming itself lately into silly questions, ceremonious "debates" and opinionated people.

I am not a pessimist but I don't hope really that much.

At least let's not let such cases pass unattended. Action is the only means here.

PS: at least it's nice to see all the familiar names back in town! Welcome!

Personality and personal data must not be harrassed otherwise any offence is illegal.
I am disappointed to see that a section where Greek culture, history and tourism should be promoted, is becoming a field of personal conflicts.

I see a lot of people have given you good advice. However in my profession as a medical doctor, the BEST ADVICE is PREVENTION --- NEVER GET INVOLVED IN THE FIRST PLACE?

How on earth did these people know you in such details?

Did you go around telling them your name? Where you lived? Your address? Who your family members are?

Yahoo! DOES NOT protect our PRIVACY, the only PERSON THAT PROTECTS OUR PRIVACY is us -- YOU, YOURSELF must PROTECT YOURSELF.

Do not tell people your personal information.

In the real world, I shred all my documents, even my letters with my address on them, because there are people who go and pick through your garbage, steal your address and even try to steal your identity from the information they get from the garbage you throw out.

Here on Yahoo! People read your answers! If you put in your answer where you lived or who your family are. Anyone on the internet can see that, and anyone can do the research to LOOK YOU UP!

So yes, you should go to the police and report the people that are threatening you. But remember, this all started because you did not take cautions in looking after your own personal information.

I also star your questions so that my contacts here who are ladies will see what sort of problems occur when you are loose with the information!

One more thing, and please do not be offended by this, but I would tell ♫Manisalibo to change his greetings to "DEAR FRIEND", because a total stranger like me now knows your FIRST NAME! and that Yahoo! ID name you have maybe your LAST NAME? Hmmmmm?!

If someone, or a group of individuals, has revealed some personal data, or has defamed you, or has treathened you and your sister, you don't have any other alternative than reporting the situation to the authorities.

I think Ipek gave you some good advice.

Internet has become a dangerous place, even though all seems to be just virtual here...
But the fear is not virtual, and no threat message should be allowed.
Threathening someone's life (or even someone's material interests ) is a crime, that's why a court has the power to order identification of the suspect users, and these people will be trialed and prosecuted for sure once their guiltiness is proved.
I suppose they'll have to pay a financial penalty, for reparation of the moral damage ( fear ).

I am not a lawyer, I'm only a friend, but you can count on me if you need help or advice.

Actually it HAS to be protected by the agreement you accept when you sign into yahoo. Yahoo can not give away your IP address, contact details and personal info that you supply them UNLESS there is a court order. It is also responsable from the participants acts of revealing others personal data in an open forum like Yahoo Answers.

You can take Yahoo to court and ask for the identity of the participant who is revealing your personal info. In this context, store the link of the question and the link of this person's profile in case he/she decides to delete them. Take screen shots of the pages as further evidence. They can still be found whether they are deleted or not

Actually it has been done and the case is won in California USA. I can supply you with detail info about this case. Therefore, this case is legitimate.

In that mentioned case, two people threaten a mutual friend of ours actually and Yahoo is ordered by court to present the IP numbers of the users. They had been tracked down and faced related penalty.

Internet related crimes are being considered as real crimes and being punished accordingly. This place is not the play ground of anybody who can come and vent out whatever they want. You know better than I do, If there is a crime, there is punishment.

we all know what should and should not be done, the question is what do we do about it? we all are witnesses of this "war" but no precautions have been taken...and I don't see the point in exposing the personal data of a person and having them blocked...this is childish...

I no longer find this section to be the place for intelligent and informed discussion and opinion.

Sadly, as with many things in life, it seems to have largely been taken over by those with extreme views who only wish to come on this forum to be aggressive and to create unrest.

You are a sad loss to the forum sir - I have respected your views and opinions even when I have not agreed with them. If your personal life has been infringed by these people, then I wish you well and hope that this is just mostly hot air.

Besides Dellarovere I have been the target of this three-member "group" which managed to possess and control the whole section by forcing other users to leave it disgusted, allowing the three of them to play the role of the (Un)Holy Trinity.
I was the first to receive defaming mails about other users, with detailed refference to their personal data, and I still have them in my archives for any legal use.
I was the first one who had been approached by the lady in question, who presented herself as a distant cousin of mine, telling me details about my family branch (meaning she and her company keeps a record).
When I rejected her she turned against me, blocked me and started spreading around that I was fake (4th level troll?), sending me mails disputing my family name - because I rejected her - and then, along with her alter ego, the top answerer, speaking openly in the Q/A forum that me and Dellarovere are a couple.
She even posted a link to a youtube video about Cults, blaming, along with her friend, the members of the group she was expelled from for reasons of orser, that they are a dangerous secret organisation.
The "top answerer" called me in public Dellarovere's dog, just two days ago, when they attacked us once again by their usual trolls asking "questions" about our nationality and private life.
Almost all older users left this section, to allow the top answerer "gain" 10 best answers daily (the Harry Potter way), but him, and his two female companions attacking us in our absence using our personal data, is beyond any immagination.
We all shall leave this section again, but I will insist that present questioner takes legal steps, as it's not a matter of being reported nad having questions and answers deleted anymore, but a matter of having already posted half his personal data in this forum, the other half that lady threatening to reveal too.
Enough, with them, who are hiding behind anonymity, while my nick for example happens to be my real name and surname.

I think in reality no one can threat you or anybody else. We're all mature and intelligent people and we know what is legal and what's not. And the consequences of our actions.Sometimes, we may feel huffy, but nobody can hurt us. Besides as Leonarda said, we' re standing behind a computer. For example, I am a 100% Greek and they said, that I am not, according to my answers. Ok, so what?? If they want I can be from Mars, too. I may give stupid answers or even worst I may not have humor. But, whose can judge my answers? Or yours? No one has the right! I agree that we can make comments, but without insulting others. I beleive, that sometimes with our comments we must be more careful, coz we may insult others, but no one can really threat you.

I am really shocked and disgusted to see what happened to you and your sister. I never thought people would go that far! You should definitely do something about it and you, for sure, know what to do!
This section, just as Frank B also said, has become a disgrace for Greece with all its nonsense questions. Something should also be done to protect the image of Greece!

well i m not user of this section, but as you know, i appreciate you so much, and i found this question stared too...
I also appreciate some greek users who are my contacts, and they have showed quality and intelligence.
Exposing the privacy of someone has to be denounced immediately,as the threats to a person, even if the other is unable to do something...
Sometimes i passed by this section, and this, because some of my contacts had starred a question...I didnt find any interesting reason to participate, since i had seen questions of irony, or things such as how good are the greek lovers...
It is getting out of information this...and without doubt it doesnt excite any foreigner to participate...
Fortunately, i have another idea for Greece, so this can not influence me, but it is a pitty to see greek people considered so brave to attack each other and expose their privacy so openly...It doesnt happen in other sections, i am sure of it

My dearest friend,you know who you are and you know who they are!We have had many differences in opinion with them but we never used real names in questions/answers.They did.What does that tell you?
As for the person who posted those questions you know she is crazy and will do anything in order to get some attention from our "clan" as she calls us.As you can see from all this answers there are more people out there who love you and respect you for the person you are than those haters....btw she didn't even get the recognition she wanted through those questions as most people accused her for breaking the Y!A rules and exposing someone's real identity so the joke is on her!

To threaten someone, especially someone as friendly and kind as you are, one must have serious problems, regardless the situation. That is why I do not give my name to everyone, I do not know how İpek figured it out though...
