No, they are not the same. Switzerland is thecountry South of Germany. Sweden is two countries North of Germany. |

No; they are seperate countries. Switzerland is considerably further south than Sweden, bordered by Italy on the south. Sweden and Norway occupy a peninsula that is situated north of the main body of Europe, north of the Baltic Sea.
If it's any consolation, I used to get them confused as a kid, too; I think the names being at least slightly similar confused me a bit. The best way to learn is to study a map, though; once you've really looked at it, you'll see they're considerably different and seperate. |

Switzerland is the little country in the heart of Europe famous for it's mountains, cheese, chocolate, banks etc. and Sweden is in Northern Europe. They have a royal family as well. |

They are two separate countries. And like someone else said, they are not even in the same area. Sweden is way up in the Nordic part of Europe near Russia (Brrr) and Switzerland is way at the bottom of Europe, close to Italy, Germany, and France.
Swedes are from Sweden, and the Swiss are from Switzerland.
Just google "Map of Europe" and take a good long look next time. It may help save you the embarrassment. |

Both are different countries, although i've gotten some ppl asking me the same thing before. We are up north of europe, while swiss is a lil in the middle, much smaller than Sweden. We are apart of scandivania, which includes Denmark,Norway,Iceland ,some say Finland too.Our flag is blue & yellow while swiss has white & red.Totally different countries & culture. Some ppl use to say to me...Sweden has produce nice chocolate..lol and i always answer..nope thats Swiss..lol.. Swiss is famous for skiing.Sweden is famous for Abba,Volvo & Absolut Vodka.
Hope that clears up ur confusion a lil.Cheers! :)

Yes, of course...and so are Denmark, Holland, Luxembourg, Texas and Patagonia. Actually what any intelligent would-be explorer does is to keep Switzerswedeland open, and just chuck any of those other annoying little buggers that you can't quite place in there too....saves a bunch of time.
Go for it ! |

And do you also confuse Australia and Austria?
Canada and Granada?
Andorra and Angola?
Cuba and Aruba?
Iraq and Iran?
Guinea and Guyana?
Togo and Tonga?
Zambia and Zimbabwe?
Leichtenstein and Luxembourg?
Cyprus and Syria?
Libya and Latvia and Liberia?
Niger and Nigeria?
Slovenia and Slovakia?
Mauritania and Mauritius?
Peru and Nauru?
Ireland and Iceland (only 1 letter different!)
Armenia and Argentina?
Estonia and Ethiopia?
Mongolia and Moldavia?
Mali and Malta?
There's help out there! Get a map and explore the subtle (and more obvious) differences between countries.
First clue might be that they have DIFFERENT NAMES.
Weird, huh!!!! |

Take a look at the map. Sweden is way in the north and with a long coastline. Switzerland is in the Alps and not much sea coast. |

It 's been said that no question is too dumb, but yours.... At least you did the right thing by asking. You've been dumped on enough by people who don't know how to spell--or at least know what "Check Spelling" means. |
