Probably yes. But Lizzy here is basically saying that Greek men are the world's number 1 hypocrites as well, because if they're family oriented why are the sleeping around?!?! What do you mean they will not marry you if you spend the nice evening with them?! Who's asking them to?! And as for THAT kind of marriage where the man is married but sleeps around, thanks a lot! Sad to see so many people with backward views here, and so many women to support the sexist, macho society. You have only yourselves to blame for the life you're leading. "Bad reputation" has come up so many times that it makes you think if you're in a time machine! This can't be XXI century Europe!

Okay,I'm sorry if this may seem rude to you but...you've been here for 9 months and already you had a relationship with 4 different men?And you slept with all of them?It's very possible that,especially if you live in a small community,you are considered by a lot of people as "easy" and this is why you only get stuck with that sort of people who treat you badly...
Keep in mind that in small communities(this isn't this often in bigger cities like Athens,Thessaloniki,Heraklion etc) it's easy to get a "bad name" for dating a lot of men and therefore attract only the players(which consider it will be easier to get what they want from you).
There are a lot of nice men in Greece who are ready for relationships and are really commited to their girlfriends.I have many friends who are in longtime relationships(over 2-3 years with the same girl) and they absolutely adore their girlfriends and do anything in their power to keep them happy.
Try not to be so flirty when you go out,keep a lower profile.Spend time with someone before jumping in the sack...Men will say anything to get you to sleep with them(that's not just Greeks,that's all men),it's your "job" to seperate the ones who are lying from the honest ones and build a relationship with the ones that are worth it...

As for M.C. I'm sorry you had these experiences here...This doesn't mean all Greeks are bad.Im half Greek too,and I too was verbally abused by classmates in the past.I also had always people around me to stand up for me...Don't see everything black and white.And especially don't expect any sympathy in a Greek section when you practically go out of your way to insult Greeks and Greece...If you have a hostile attidute people will sense that and will act hostile towards you...especially when you are badmouthing Greeks and Greece in an international forum which can lead to people feeling they shouldn't come here for their holidays.I don;t know if your income depends on tourism,but you know that a lot of people do depend on tourists...You making Greece look bad in an international forum can and will be seen as backstabbing and betrayal by the Greeks...

Men are the same worldwide but to different extremes. I thoroughly agree with what zusje17 said about the reputation - hopefully the 4 men in 9 months was in Athens or Thessaloniki because it it is/was in a small community e,g town or island - you have already earned a bad reputation!

This may sound sexist - but Greek men like the traditional female - feminine - sexy - caring - nurturing - and one who basically knows how to behave outside the family home! (which unfortunately in this day are few - especially young girls from UK)

Everyone meets people who are not right for them - maybe you are just in the wrong place, meeting the wrong type. I do hope you are not with the 'kamaki' type that hit on tourists - these are NOT a good example of a loving Greek man (practice safe $ex)

I met my husband after 10yrs here in Greece - not 9 months! By that time I knew exactly what I was getting myself into and how a lot of Greek men see their wives - I also knew how to behave .... ok he still can't control my wicked humour and never knows what I going to say .. thankfully his humour is similar to mine - and the kids have got it now! People have said they see us as the happiest married couple - I believe this stems from NOT rushing into a mixed marriage. By the time I met him I was totally independant (less strain on him)

Why not live and enjoy Greece without the need for a man - I never understand women who need to be in a relationship and are willing to settle for anything - even if they are not right together! Enjoy you free life in Greece!

The Greek climate- and generally the Mediterranean- encourages overt eroticism. If one's temperament cannot deal with that which is natural, then one must be encouraged to move North where sentiments and indeed nature are oftentimes concealed, subdued, or masked as "propriety".

All men only think of sex if it is offered to them on a plate. Greek men are very family orientated and are not going to marry you just because you sleep or go out with them. The best thing to do when in Greece or Cyprus is be friendly but not expect a relationship with someone just because you have had a nice evening with them.

Seriously though, I don't think geography has much to do with whether guys are good or bad, I think culture has a lot to do with it, maybe their culture isn't the same as the culture you're use to. Or maybe you just have had a string of bad luck with men. Or maybe you are really attractive and good guys are intimidated and fast and loose guys are attracted for the challange of conquest.
Or maybe you just need to stop looking for guys, and let them start looking for you.

Yes, most men have a variety of interests. The problem is women are an alien species and not interested in them so sex is the only activity that can be engaged in with them.

Well, Greek men have many other interests besides sex, if I can judge from my friends and relatives.
But I am really surprised, I've also met men from other countries and my problem was that they were interested only in heartless sex, and no emotional commitment! Greek men are willing to become a partner, but they want you to show your caring first. They are more of mama's babies and they are conservative comparing to men of other countries, at least this is what I believe.

Edit. Amig, to be honest, I see your point. Greek men are conservative and this is hypocretical. But let's face it, there are also many women that want everything to be given to them, whereas they don't give something in return.
