Turkey is considered part of the middle east.
Most of the people there are muslim.
They have applied for entry into the European Union, but they haven't been accepted yet.
Turkey is a member of NATO, however.
The native people there are not considered to be caucasian

Edit: for all the idiots who say Turkey is not part of the middle east, please click the link below....
and yes, there may be blonde people living in Turkey...notice I said "native" people??? (meaning people inherently native to this region) This kind of lack of reading comprehension never ceases to amaze me...below is also a link (the last one) to a map for the region which will explain this further...obviously no one has ever bothered to look up exactly what being caucasian means...sigh.
And take note that NONE of the groups in Turkey is listed under caucasian...

imdashti
Yes, Turkey is considered part of the Middle East.

However, being Caucasian is a matter of the colour of the skin. In Turkey, as in many countries which lie between Europe and Asia, races got mix up so much that you find Caucasians and Middle Eastern looks living together. Middle Eastern features can be seen in many European countries in Eastern Europe like Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, etc. On the other hand, Caucasian features (blonde hair/green eyes/white skin) can be seen in many countries in Asia as far as India.

Cappuccino
Well. According to text book definition is Middle East. But have seen travel agencies group Turkey under European travel ... perhaps, half of it is in Europe and half is in Middle East.

In this very educational thread we learned that you should be a member of the EU for being considered a caucasian. How wise some people are aren't they?

As a Turk actually I don't care about what my race is called and don't give a penny about races but if you really want to learn what Turks are considered you can read the following link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkic_peoples

To sum it up, both Iranians and Turks are considered as "white"

Takis
Turkey is a vast country and a mixture of different people.
Some are closer to europe some are closer to Asia. A small part has borders with Iraq.
There is no such think as middle Eastern.

Turkish toilets are the most sanitary Turkish baths are famous.
traditionaly the West europeans are more filthy (thats why they wore perfumes-to cover their smell- and wore wigs-because they washed their hair every month)

Hi from

Turkish people are NOT Arabs, and yes they are caucasian.

You will find many are dark haired and eyes, but there are plenty with light brown hair, red hair and even blonde hair and can have any eye colour.

My boyfriend has 2 cousins that are light blonde hair with baby blue eyes, and they are turkish.

Pala Remzi
you and the other idoits who think they could answer this question would be ASTOUNDED to see blond haired Turkish with blue eyes.

Iranians and Turkish are Caucasians.. They are not Arabs and they are not necessarily dark tanned.

But you racists think otherwise eh?
Duuuh! Get a life

Tanju
Hi,

Turkisk People are not Middle Eastern. Well, maybe %60 people have got black hair/eyes, but I think we can not say all Turks are Middle Eastn.
ıf you have a time, visit Istanbul, Izmir or Ankara . You will undertand what I am say.

Regards

Apparently the person with the nick ganja smoked a little too much about that stuff. Like race has anyting to do with being in the European Union. According to this brilliant character's logic following nations are not caucasian.
Well first and foremost US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. They are not in the EU, right? First of all my friend EU is en economic union. Turkey plays all of their sports competition with Europe. Iran does not even do that but they are also a caucasion race. Oh also Croatia, Monaco, Russia, Ukraine they also must not be white because they are not in the Economic Union. Most Turks are a white race. am not Turkish , I am half Greek and half Italian. But I love history. In fact if you look in history the origin of Finland dates back t Turks for example. They do have some similarities of course with the rest of the Middle Easst. But this by no means is fanaticism in religion. They are not and do not consider themselves Arabs and they try not to associate with Arabs. In fact although the country is predomiantly Muslim they support Israel and usually side with them in any Middle East crisis.
Unlike the other countries. there are several Christians and Jews living in Turkey in peace. In fact I am Christian and I lived there for two years with no problems. Armenia is also considered in Europe. You know those people that always talk bad about Turkey and do not look at their own terrorist state. Have you looked at them recently? If race i determined by hair color and eye borrows athen please ask them to shave their unibrow!
And if Turkey is not in Europe how can they be with their little country that is way East of Turkey :)
I thinkthey are predominantly white. Middle East is not a race.
The races are: Black, Hispanic, Arab, White/Caucasian, Asian. Of thes where do you think they fit in? I say caucasian.

They are considered as Middle eastern but they are not. Actually in the İnternational area Turkey is accepted as a Europian country. If you ask races; all mixed up but scientific experiments show that their genes are very similar to Greeks' and Armenians' which is so surprising for them, greeks, armenians and turks

By no means are they caucasian, they arent even in the European Union

Irmak
All people who have black hair/eyes can't be Middle Eastern of corz..Most of Turkish people have black or brown eyes/hair. But our skin is lighter than Middle Easterns..
