Of course I am. Everybody who believes in equality is one, too. They just don't know it.

That feminism means ugly women who don't shave their legs and that feminism means masculinization of women and that feminist women forget their roles as nurturers and child bearers are all insultory clichés created by men who feel threatened by feminism.

Gentlemen, don't buy the cliché, it is not your own ideas, they are forced upon you.

When women were fighting for voting rights, those same clichés appeared in reactionary media and somehow it still prevails.

If egalitarian societies have lower birth rates, it is only because working life and society isn't organized as child-friendly and woman-friendly places. Trust me, all women want to fulfill their biological instincts. You just need to give them the chance to do that and be an individual at the same time.

Yes I am, Infact I work with NGO that is related to women rights in Pakistan....

WOW! You are getting waaaayy too serious lol:)
Ok i will tell you my definition of feminism:
I want total equality between the genders but i don't want them to lose their feminin or masculin sides.
I don't want to be categorized as women and men. I want that when somebody looks at me or any woman or any man that somebody doesn't think of any gender.
I want that all people respect eachother.
When there is respect we will not even need -isms.
I am all for human rights.

Yes I am. I am against any culture that regards women as second class citizens.

What people have to realize is that there are varying degrees of everything.

Some people are radical feminists, being very intense about their beliefs. Radical people are usually always deemed a little bit crazy. So, in my opinion, being radical isn't very good: especially since it usually denotes negative activity. There are much better ways to get what you want. :p

As for being a feminist myself...yes, I believe that I am, to some degree; however, I believe that a lot of people who say they aren't really are. :p

Feminism is not a bunch of insane women, burning their bras in protest of men having one-leg up in everything. :p It's a cause much like civil rights. It's PEOPLE (not just women) speaking their mind, writing articles/books, leading parades/activities, etc. that aid in developing a greater sense of equality throughout the world.

Call me crazy, but I'd be happy if everyone in the world was equal. :p Not just men vs women.

I haven't an exact definition, but I view that women and men should live with dignity.

Qu'est ce que tu pense?
Yes, I'm a very strong feminist. It really ticks me off when a guy and a girl are going to an American college, with the same grades, the same resume, and the college can only accept one person. Guess which one they're going to choose? This is an actual fact unfortunately, and I don't like it in the least bit.

I also hate that women get less pay than men do. Even though, they have the same qualifications and work ethic.

Another example is when you are looking for a job. If two possible employees are applying for the job with the same qualifications, the employer is going to pick the man. This is simply because they know that the woman will most likely drop out of work after 2 years, because the employer assumes she's going to get pregnant. That's why most employers before an interview ask women what their dating status is. If they're dating/engaged/married, red lights are flashing in the employer's head thinking that she won't be a good candidate because she'll leave the job due to pregnancy.
As you can see, I can talk all day about this topic :)

definition-Feminism is simply when there's an equal balance between men and women.

No
But I am a very strong willed 28 year old mum to 3 who works in a male dominated career.
I want to be treat like a woman and look like a woman.
But I don't want to be thought of as inferior.
My husband is a big macho guy and he wouldn't want a wife with no fight in her belly.
Equality I feel is a very diffrent matter.

No,not at all.

I believe men and women should have equal rights and they should be treated equally. But, they are not equal. A man should be a man and a woman should be a woman.Just for an example, women shouldn't do something absolutely musculine for only to prove they can also do that. What's the point? The same is also true for men.

anlarm
Of course not, I am a male. And I do not like some ladies who believe that being a feminist involves dressing in a shabby way. One can dress up in a feminine way and still be a feminist in view.
I personally believe in complete equality of men and women. I am against all kinds of discrimination against females.

edit: i-run, I did not buy that cliché from other men. I got that impression from some ladies who call themselves feminists and think they should dress in a shabby manner, rather than in a refined feminine style.
When I started celebrating Women's Day on March 8, even the women around me had not heard of such a day. They were surprised to receive flowers and my good wishes.

Irmak
I'm not a feminist..I think feminish is not believing in men.
Women rights are enough but the most important is to make women to know/use their rights.

Leonarda
Not at all.First of all, our nature as mediterranean and oriental people you and us(the greeks)we have other mentality and other rules. We are used to hold the house, certainly to work, but the femminity is not the total freedom as in some european countries. This makes the oriental women unique..
They know how to treat the man, their families, and forst of all how to be femminine without ressembling to the men..
What we have to do more?To fignt for our rights in work, equal salary and opportunities, and not to be exploited and bad treated by the men, what the europeans have obtained.
But as women, i prefere our mentality, at least we know how to keep a family..

Selena
Feminism is ok to a certain extent...I want to drive my car, dress the way I want, say my opinion freely but I believe that a woman should stay at home after marriage and take care of her family and women shouldn't go to war!
