GREEK BARBiiE♥
 |
The only country today thats Hellenic is Greece.
Greece is officially named: 'The Hellenic Republic of Greece'
The Greeks are the only ones of Hellenic descent but many countries were influenced by the Hellenic culture. There were many countries that were colonized by Greeks in ancient times. Alexander the Great wanted to Hellenize all the known world. He conquered Egypt and Hellenized it, the city Alexandria is named after him and used to be a Greek city for hundreds of years! Even the Egyptians adopted the Greek alphabet to write in their Coptic language. Later, Egypt was conquered by the Byzantine Greeks which also led another influence there, although more religious, especially on the Christian population! There used to be a Greek community living there in the 50's and many buildings in Alexandria today are designed after Greek architecture, even Alexandrian culture is influenced by Greek culture, people there are share a more Mediteranean like attitude! |

No - the only Hellenic nation is Greece. if you were to use an expended definition of Hellenic nations to include nations that were, in Classical Times, conquered by the Greeks/Macedonians- then it would include most of Mediterranean, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey, Israel, Syria, and Lebanon. (plus many others). I don't think anyone thinks of say, Iran, as Greek state. |

There are many nations that have had hellenic influence; but only one nation can be considered hellenic today, and that's Greece. |

Greece is country inhabited by Greeks (Hellenes). Egypt and Turkey are inhabited by Egyptians and Turks respectively, not Greeks. |

Only Greece is by ancestry Hellenic, (and southern Cyprus don't you think), but many countries had Hellenic influences, just like others told you here. |

Trotsky vs Kerensky- НекIо!
 |
After the things I've read in this section, I thought nothing was capable of surprising me further. Why on earth would TURKS be a Hellenic nation, let alone the Semitic Egyptians? When I say Egyptians, I mean Egyptians, not ancient Ptolemians. I wonder, what could have possibly given you this idea? If there is a very slight influence on Turkish 'culture' I would talk about the Roman influence, which, was created by the contributions of true Hellenes who started establishing colonies in Italy nearly three thousand years ago and the Etruscans who also had a very advanced civilization. That would be a very indirect influence at best, and it certainly falls short of creating a "Hellenic nation", whatever you mean by that. |

Hmm, we may also say that Egypt, Greece, Algeria, Israel; Bulgaria, Armenia, Hungary, Serbia,Albania, Macedonia,Romania,Slovenia, Bosnia, Croatia, Lybia, Tunisia, Somalia, Ethiopia, Iran,Iraq, Syria, Jordania, Palestine,Saudi Arabia,Georgia, Ukraine, Malta, Jordan, are Turkish Ottoman nations...
Is that what you mean? |
